Should Wings fans be rooting for the Aves?

I don't know about you, but just seeing those Avelanche jerseys still make my go crazy. I know the rivarly isn't there anymore, but wouldn't be great playing them in the second round? Who knowns, maybe a new rivarly will be born and the hate will be back in our and Colorado's hearts like it should always be

Do you want to see the Avelanche in the second round or you really don't care?

Yeah, I want the Avs to win so we play them. Of course, we have to get past Narshville first and I don't see the next game being easy. This game tonight was too close.

Theodore is playing like it's '02 so I don't exactly feel they'd be the second easiest match up for us, it's really quite close between them, Calgary, and yes Dallas. I know they're beating Anaheim but in all realism let's face it, Anaheim is beating themselves in that series, we absolutely own Dallas.

I'm personally rooting for a game seven as I've loved the series, so for now go Minnesota.

However, if there is a guarantee of a rival renewal I'd want Colorado in round two more than LA.

I've been craving a Wings-Avs playoff series for the last several years, but the Avs have managed to avoid us. They're close now, though, and I really hope it happens. I think we match up exceptionally well against them, and I miss hating them with every fiber of my being the way I did from 1996-02.

Bring it.

If we play the Aves then fine, whatever. But I will never, never, never, ever root for the Colorado Avalanche to win a hockey game. Granted a good rivalry once, but I remember being at a couple of the games, and the tension that filled the air when these teams were just on the ice together. Hell, it was tense even in the warmups pre-game skate. I remember being at the Pepsi Center wearing my Red Wings jersey. I was ready to throw down as well. I got into a couple of situations with Ave's fans. Just standing in line at the concessions stand, waiting in line for the bathroom. The rivalry was that big. I am still pissed at them for what turtle boy did to Draper. It was very personal at the time.

I am rooting for the Avs, only because (and hopefully I figured this out right), if the Wings win this series, the Avs win, and the Sharks win, then the Avs and Wings will go against each other in the semifinals (but NOT if Calgary wins over the Sharks).

Since I live in Denver, I want them to go against the Wings. Aint nothin' like being in the Pepsi Center where the majority is in red and white, sitting next to my boy (a die-hard Avs fan) and watching him squirm. Mwahaha.

So, this is my kitty. And yes, she has a Wings jersey (and collar, for that matter). The Boy mentioned previously (Avs fan) hates it. So I made this LOLCat and it is his desktop (unknown to him, currently.) Mwah.

I've thought the same thing, but it's just hard to root for those idiots.

Personally, I think we'll have an easy time against either them or the Stars. I'll root for the Stars, although I doubt they'll get past Anaheim. Either way, I would like any 2nd round matchups.

I cannot bring myself to root for them, esp. since there is a "woman" in my office who is a huge Avs fan. If you have forgotten the Rivalry between the two teams, check out the SI Vault and do a search for the Red Wings vs Avs - the articles will take you right back to those times and you will start to hate the Avs agian (if you ever stopped) - it works for me!

call it superstition, coincidence, or simply the fact that the two teams dominated the league for a decade but the red wings have not won a stanley cup since the avs relocated except when the wings eliminated the avs. Ill root for them so we can beat them en route to a stanley cup, because any other way woudnt seem right.

Sure, I'll root for them.

1) They're the easiest 2nd round opponent, should we advance.

2) The rivalry between fans would be vicious fun again, even if it isn't there for most of the players.

3) I like some of their players these days, certainly more than most of the Wild, anyway. Sakic in particular is an easy man to root for, and we won't have many more chances to see him in the post season.

4) My hatred of Foppa has cooled to a luke-warm indifference, and I have to admit I gained some respect for him when he refused to come to the Wings.

5) I hate Adam Foote and Theodore and would love the chance to bury them.

We didn't play them in the 1998 playoffs, and still won the Cup that year.

I will admit that the chances of the rivalry reboiling increased dramatically with our re-signing of Mac, and with the deadline moves by the Avs... but without Shanny, Roy, Keane, Turtle, it's hardly the same. I wonder how much of an emotional boost Colorado would get if they were to play us next round? I'd venture they'd bring a higher octane emotional game than against, say, Nashville or Minnesota.

I'm not sure if I like Dives with hot Theodore. they're better choice than Flames

or Ducks but hot goalies do concern me a lot. especially because this used to be

the most efficient factor in eliminating Wings who come out without inspiration

and thorough hunger to win it. so far in this playoffs they don't look like posessed

and poised to go for it. maybe Dom spanking has taugh them something

(Wings looked much sharper in Game 5) but I'll have to see how they follow

in Game 6.

I think I'd rather have Stars of all this. they are a little bit decimated by injuries

now and Marty Turco is just Marty Turco...

but you can't always pick your poison. if these are supposed to be Dives should

Wings and them advance - bring'em! that would be one hell of a series. the sole

fact that they're already bruised by Wild adds some optimism
