Pierre McGuire: I'm officially on the bandwagon....

SWF:

I'm not admitting he was right because McGuire's angle was that Detroit was in trouble because of their goaltending and because of Hasek. While he was right about Hasek (for now) I have a hard time feeling like Detroit is in trouble.

McGuire could have said something like "Hasek may not hold up, but don't worry, they have a proven goalie in Chris Osgood that can step up if need be"

But he didn't, because he's a tool.

And McGuire tried to play the whole, "Hasek is a locker room cancer!" BS card. Milbury had the sense to call him out on it.

Big deal, I don't buy this idea that there is a media conspiracy against the Wings - but even if McGuire does have something against Detroit, who cares. He is trying to point out the positives in Nashville's game because they SUCK. He knows that the are bazillions of Wings fans and they will watch either way. Broadcasters always attach themselves to the underdog team.

Try listening to broadcasters when the talk about the Patroits and Tom Brady.... they aren't the underdog. Can you love on a team and person more than that (ok...ok...besides the ultimate man love subject...Brett Favre).

Yeah, when the Wings aren't playing and the Hawks are I get to watch them...seeing as how I live in Illinois, I know your pain.

Before anybody gets to it: No, watching the Blackhawks playing is not the pain. It's the god-awful announcers that the fans have to put up with on TV. Our radio guy is awesome, though.

Add me to the anti-Pierre list. The guy really bugs me...

It doesn't help that he wants to get rid of fighting and the red line....

I stopped listening to Pierre when I realized he was more of a hypocrite than Doc Holiday!

He wants fighting out of the game but then he says he would take a team of Sean Avery's.

I am not disagreeing because he likes Avery, but you can't say you want fighting out of the league and then say you would want this guy on your team.

If you want a guy of his ilk on your team, than you can't possibly want fighting out of the game or Vice Versa!

I particularly enjoyed when Mcguire was saying he would love a team of Averys, and Milbury said "Avery's a jerk. You and him would get along well, b/c YOU'RE a jerk" His emphasis, not mine... It was great!

While I disagree with you about Nashville not being a good team, given their firesale et al they had to be pretty solid to even make the playoffs, but you are spot on 100% about everything else I think. Definitely not a media conspiracy, it's only a conspiracy if you want to it to be or just want to find reasons to be upset that other people aren't stroking the Red Wings egos. Even if some people might be doubting the Wings more than some are favoring them, I really don't care what they have to say that badly. It doesn't have any outcome on the result of the games. It's just extra stuff that I pay minimal attention to just to learn about the basics, etc.

...not surprising about this guy. Ever since Fox started broadcastingback in the early 90's, not ONE commentator has ever given the Red Wings their just due, until they had to. The best was ABC/ESPN in 2002 game 7 Wings/Aves. All they talked about is how Roy was unbeaten in game 7's. Every player profile was an Ave. Then after it was 4-0 in the first, they had nothing else prepared so they still had to show the clips of how great Roy was when in the clutch. HA HA HA, I bet the NON-Hockey fans that were watching (you know there were, that is why Bettman is still in charge he has made the NHL real sport! LOL!) anyhow, if there were any watching they were probably saying WTF is ABC smoking? This guy just gave up 6 goals and was pulled from the game! LOL! LOL! LOL! Eat that Networks!!!! The only network guy that gives the Wings props during a game and during a series is Dave Strader, of course it's obvious why. Thorne, Clement, McGuirre, Milbury, ABC, NBC, FOX, ESPN, VS, TSN you all suck. There's nothing like Mickey and Ken (except Mickey and Dave.) Well Bruce Martyn and Paul Woods are a close second to them...

...anyhow, I hope they play Colorado so they can show Forsberg where he SHOULD have signed, but yeah, the Ave Love is gonna be horrible!!! Of course if they draw Calgary, it won't be much better on CBC, but at least you know why they are that way when a Canadian team plays a U.S. team. I'm dumbfouned by the networks in the states...

He's a disgrace to the game. I don't know who his favorite team is, but it's obviously not the Red Wings. "WELCOME TO SMASHVILLE!!!" Seriously. He said it, and he felt good saying it. I don't think even Nashville's superhomer announcers have ever spewed that junk forth during a game, at least not one I've been watching. National coverage should be unbiased, it's as simple as that. He doesn't need to slurp on the Wings, what he needs to do is slurp on the other team less. A LOT less. As a Wings fan, I get tired of hearing the broadcasters say 10 things about what Nashville's doing right to 1 obligatory quote on the play of Nick Lidstrom. A friend of mine who is a casual Preds fan sent me an email yesterday that said one thing: "Is the N in NBC for Nashville?" You can't make this stuff up.

The man gets paid very well to do his job, and he doesn't even bother to check his facts before he goes on national television and informs the casual hockey fan (who doesn't know any better) about everything hockey related. That does not, and will not ever sit well with me. I watched him on Tradecentre '08 on NHL network, and you can tell even his TSN colleagues can't stand him. Nobody likes the guy.

I hope somebody pegs him right in his shiny phallus-like dome with an octopus at the Joe.

McGuire on Home ICE (XM). GUSHING on the Red Wings now. Actually admitted that he was dead wrong on the Wings. He took a good 30 seconds to describe how the Z goal from last night was 'absolutely magical' with the number of tape-to-tape passes, etc.

But then he lost me when he said Forsberg was to be commended for his courage last night. Eff that.
