Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 We definately want the AVS to be our next opponents so let's hear it for the Sharks!! The Avlanche are the better match up for sure...
Zion 93 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I'd call you names, but you may be right: Who is worse? Theodore or Kipper? Damn, why do we have to choose??? I'm rooting for a Wings/Avs series, but having the Ducks and Sharks out is just fine by me...
wingnut4013 12 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I disagree. The AV's will be an easier opponent. Plus i really don't wanna face Kipper.
sixer 37 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I disagree, I'd take Calgary over the Avs. Just my 2 cents. Calgary doesn't have the depth they did when they last beat us in the playoffs and they'll have gone 7 long games with the sharks.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I want Avs. Flames would beat us probably.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Yeah... I disagree too. I just started two threads to give everyone a chance to say pick their opponent. It was nearly disasterous picking our first round opponent so let's go again!!

This Is Bida 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Not too sure I agree. Although the Flames are definitely inconsistent it would be a much tougher series. And while I can only laugh at the people who still say Detroit is a far from physical team, I would rather see our puck moving skills utilized against the Avs. Besides, I don't see what the hype is over their goalie. The media kinda makes him seem like this proven contender when he merely beat a Minnesota team that has no offensive depth. Not to mention Kipper scares the crap outta me sometimes, and we all know how the Wings can make a good goaltender seem much better. I guess when it REALLY comes down to it, I say bring on the Avs or Flames. Now that we've gotten past the first round I think the Wings are gonna be much more relaxed come next series and step up their game.
DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 We should root that they beat each other up and take it to 7 games. As well as the other series.

Firehawk 305 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 I think I'd liek to see a colorado/detroit matchup. I think the goalie is weaker, and I would love to see Dats/Zett against Sakic/Forsberg. Even if Detroit loses, I wouldn't regret this series. I'd love to see it again. Calgary scares me. They are a scrappy team just like Nashville, but with more talent and a much better goalie. Nightfall 871 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 We definately want the FLAMES to be our next opponents so let's hear it for the Flames!! The Flames are the better match up for sure... In all my years of playing hockey, especially in tight divisions, I have learned not to pick the team you would rather play against. Its that team that usually beats you in the game or series for that matter.
sixer 37 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Firehawk, I don't think we'll face a hotter goalie then Ellis in the playoffs, at least I hope I'm wrong, lol. Kipper is better, but Ellis in terms of end of season and playoffs has been the MVP

Kipper is better, but Ellis in terms of end of season and playoffs has been the MVP not necessarily. he made a couple of good saves but he's also let a huge number of rebounds which Wings were unable to capitalize. Ellis was good but there are goalies out there who could be much worse to Wings. like pissed Nabokov, like Giguere in good shape, like Kipper whatever you want him or even Marty Turco if he suddenly decides to not collapse in playoffs

He gave up bad rebounds, looked foolish in challenging the shooter too much, and gave up that goal to Lidstrom today.

Rebounds. His job was to stop the puck. He did that. Ellis giving up rebounds was not an issue for the Preds. The rest of the team was.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Ugh! Rebounds. His job was to stop the puck. He did that. Ellis giving up rebounds was not an issue for the Preds. yes it was an issue. a rebound is always am extra chance for the other team. credit goes here to Preds defensemen who were able to cover up for some of those rebounds. there's also the problem of Wings not putting enough men around Ellis to poke those rebounded pucks. but you don't have this comfort if you play a fast team which should be the reason why Wings didn't capitalize on those rebounds. frankly, this is a problem for a goalie The rest of the team was. somehow, yes. the injuries and the overall shortage on skill compared to Wings. Ellis himself was obviously better than Preds average but saying he's the best goalie Wings could meet in playoff is gross overstatement. which was my point

Not that I remember anyway. When facing a barrage of shots from a team like Detroit - no goalie should be worrying about rebounds. Because that's when they fail to stop the puck. End of story. End of story. that's wicked thinking. that's not "no problem" but actually 2 problems. a team which would put more bodies in front of Ellis could burn him with 4-5 goals a game. so yes, those rebounds are issue and the other issue is Wings being unable to put the puck which Ellis didn't catch. they'll need to be able to get this done when they head against some Sharks, Ducks or Stars. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I'd rather play the Avs. I don't like the matchup against the Flames primarily because their fans are ******* tools and I don't want to listen to them anymore. Besides, I want Keenen to fail early and often. I first round loss for the Flames and that team may be gutted.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 avs for sure. just cause i want san jose to go through another long tough series with the winner of the aneheim/dallas series. That line of thinking doesn't make much sense - if the Sharks are the team you fear most, wouldn't you rather have them out altogether?
