NHL cuts Refs for round two.

With the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs over, the National Hockey League has trimmed the number of referees that will work the second round.

The list of those staying on is headlined by Paul Devorski, Don Koharski and Bill McCreary, all of whom have worked more than 1,500 regular season and playoff games.

Notably absent from the second round is referee Kerry Fraser, who has also worked more than 1,500 regular season and playoff games.

Is O'Halloran or McCreary the dude with the "I drink your milkshake" mustache?

That is McCreary. I usually don't have a problem with McCreary, but I believe he officiated game three in the Nashville series and did a pathetic job. Then again, I would rather see anyone besides O'Halloran or Hasenfratz.

I don't know how both refs from last night Washington/Philadelphia game are still in. Just proves what a joke the league's stance on refereeing is.

I agree, I didn't see the whole game, but it has become painfully obvious that some, if not all refs, are calling playoff games differently than regular season, which the NHL insisted would not be the case.

The thing that gets to me is the consistency. If a penalty in the regular is different than a penalty in the post season how does the league ever expect its players to understand how play the game to the maximum level?
