I don't think many noticed, and they minded their own business. I did tell Joe that I "hope they drop one tomorrow" and he laughed and seemed like a nice guy. Saran 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Yeah Joe is a good guy. I work at the Shoppers Drug Mart and this grandma brought these pictures to be printed. I guess her grandson is a huge Avs fan and Sakic fan and went to watch the game. The nexty day they were shopping in Vancouver and ran into Sakic and he took a picture with the kid and is sending them a signed jersey and everything. He's such a quiet low-key guy. When the Avs first came here over ten year ago - I remember there was an article in the Denver Post that a motorist had car trouble on the interstate - and Joe Sakic pulled over and helped them out.... Now Floppa on the other hand, I think is a complete fake, just something about him - but Avs fans I swear love him more than Sakic - which I feel is unjustified... I can't speak on behalf of other avs fans, but I definitely appreciate Joe... he's just a great guy and a good leader for our team. It's going to be hard seeing his jersey retired! Much like it was when Stevie Y retired! Personally, I think that Joe and Stevie were separated at birth... they just seem to have many of the same traits. #19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Heh, Sakic was always one of the few I could tolerate back in the hayday of the rivalry, not to mention he had one of the best wrist shots of his generation, but thats neither here nor there. These guys are just like us they like to actually get out of there hotel and do stuff when they're out of town so it doesn't really suprise me, but the fact that they weren't heckled did. I played some roulette with Jordin Tootoo a couple weeks back when at the beginning of round one at the MGM, so if you're out chances are you'll spot some players around town for sure. I like to think Avs fans felt the same way about Yzerman, but I am not sure. Burnaby Joe is actually one of my favourite players of all time, I just can't admit that often since I am a die-hard Wings fan. EDIT- on the topic of player sightings; My girlfriend and I ran into a bunch of Calgary Flames at a movie downtown here in Edmonton last winter. It was a Friday night and they were here for a Saturday night HNIC battle on CBC. We didn't even notice them till we were walking out of the movie. It was at a pretty quite theatre that we like to goto because its never packed. We saw Craig Conroy, Jarome Iginla, Matt Lombardi, and Eric Godard. We were at the movie "Zodiac". I don't think it had enough action for them though, haha - but I was surprised they wanted to go see it. Maybe they had nothing better to do. I remember this one time from the early days of the rivalry there was a little brawl between the two teams and mostly everybody was fighting except Yzerman and Sakic. They were the only ones, just standing next to each other having a good laugh about it. I will always respect him, not only as a leader but a man of class as well.
