WCSF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 8, Avalanche 2

It's great to see a sweep. This was a beatdown and I really enjoyed it. No stress after the Wings got up 4 or 5 goals, just relax and enjoy. It will be much harder next round.

The Avs injuries were a huge factor in the series, but this was a bad matchup for Colorado from the beginning. Hopefully the other series don't drag too much longer, because a little time off for the Wings is good, but too much time off might be bad.

GO WINGS!!!

Did anybody else get fed up last night with how many times the Versus announcers brought up the divealanche's injury problems? I was getting ready to punch a hole through my TV after hearing all that.

Nobody seems to be willing to point out that they would have never had a chance to beat us anyway. Their defense and system is way inferior to ours.

Joe Sakic was nonexistent in this series, and no one seems willing to criticize him considering how much good press he usually gets. He sucked and should retire immediately.

Hejduk was also invisible as was Stastny in the 2 plus games that he played.

Foote did nothing in this series besides shove Homer after whistles. He was useless and is too old to be a difference maker anymore.

Theodore was atrocious, and I can't remember the last time I saw a goalie play a worse series.

Their defense looked scared and pathetic against us. Yeah Hannan was injured, but did that really make a difference?

Last of all, Floppa did nothing in the one game that he played, except take a dumb penalty against Sammy that cost them the game.

The reason I mention all this, is that no one in the media seems willing to point out these facts, and is instead constantly harping on the injuries they had. I'm tired of hearing all these damn excuses, and the media is obviously showing their bias for the divealanche. Screw Versus! :ranting:

So I'm watching the highlights this morning before I left for work, and is it just me or is there not sweeter sound than when a Red Wing blasts a one-timer on the PP and rings it in off the post. That clank, is like heavenly music. Just like Feds doing it in the '02 WCF's against Colorado, Z's one-timer from Lids last night was just a thing of beauty. The key goal is the play Lids made. First and foremost, he got the puck on a cross-ice pass and as the Avs defender noticed who received the pass he literally stopped skating toward Nick and backed off to try and get in position rather than trying to pressure (that's the respect Lids commands). Then he literally moved as far over as he could, took the entire Avalanche team out of position for a one-time shot from the opposite side and put the puck exactly where it needed to be for Z to bury it.

Gorgeous

I haven't even scratched the surface when it comes to beauties. Z's next was jaw-dropping, Franz's first goal that he effortlessly pushed forward from his skate to his stick, his patience on the Z shortie and the difficultly of that angle to actually bury it, and Sammy's gorgeous out-of-mid-air deflection. Just an absolute clinic last night!

I will repeat...

It was going to happen, you could see it coming from miles away. Who cares what they think? Getting worked up on sports reports and analysts is one of the biggest wastes of time. It does not change the fact that the Wings advanced. I don't care how they did it or what benefits they had to do it, they advanced. Does it make their series victory tainted? No.

The Ducks had the benefit of Wings injuries last year. Does that make their series win or championship tainted? No.

San Antonio Spurs in the NBA were fortunate not to play #1 seed Dallas (60+ wins last year) who got upset in the first round en route to the NBA Championship last year. Does that make their championship tainted? No.

You can put this scenario in pretty much any NHL or NBA playoff series.

They advanced which is most important. Quit worrying about what these sports "analysts" or "experts" think, let them have their opinion, and enjoy the fact that the Wings have made a 2nd consecutive deep run into the postseason.

Sakic played hurt as well by the way... well Colorado players and coaching stuff didn't whine about injuries it was mostly media. Honestly what else would announcers supposed to say? It was disappointing for Hockey fans, maybe not wings fans to watch one team completely dominate another, this was a series many were looking forward to... announcers also talked about the highlight reel goals and how awesome wings are and how amazing zetterburg is and how mule is awesome break all those records... it is what it is...

I actually thought the announcers (especially Mr. Boston) were going to blow a load on the telestrator last night with how much they were praising and salivating over Detroit's puck-posession skillz. Yes, they did mention the injuries every other sentence in every game of this series, but the same thing would happen if the Wing's had 5 of their top 6 forwards out as well. Not really a bias to me. Just pointing out the obvious.

GMR

The only time the announcers will give credit to Detroit is if the win it all.

Other than that they will always point out how easy it was for them because of injuries, travel, wind direction, the smell of chili farts, whatever they can find. Why, I have no idea.

Their will always be reasons why the Wings won't, can't, shouldn't have won.

It just makes it all that much sweeter when they do things like last night!!

They are just crying because no one expected with or without injuries for Detroit to dominate the series the way they did. They are looking for any reason to explain it they can. It just so happens that the most popular theory is injuries.

WOW, that was as quiet as I've ever heard it in the Pepsi Center. It sort of felt like a pre-season game. It was absoultly amazing to look around in the 3rd period, and see mostly red & white. It sure was a fun time, had by all.

Get a few days rest, then back @ it boys

We're only half way home,

LETS GO RED WINGS!!!!!!

WOW, what a game.. Wings didn't start off strong, but cranked up the meter like 10,000 times more.... Mule is beast, and Hank was on fire as well. Hanks second goal was a thing of beauty, I would say one of the goals of the year for sure.. Nothing better than a sweep, exspecially when it's on the Avs.. GO WINGS GO

put this in the dictionary beside "owned". Colorado looked like a junior team.I stopped listening to the moron sportscasters go on about Av's injury trouble back in game 1....After all the"experts" at TSN out of a panel of five, 3 picked anaheim to win the cup,1 picked pittsburg,1 picked the wings....no respect...

How does Foote get away with so much? Holding Homer's stick then punching him after the whistle... what the hell?

Yeah, that's amazing to me. He can hold and punch with no call, but Homer gets called for tripping when he was the one who got cross-checked.

The officiating was inexcusable in those cases.

However, the game was amazing, I couldn't believe how it turned out.
