BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Okay, so here's what you do, it's very simple. Go up to any anti-Wings fan you know, rub it in their face that the Wings swept the Avs, and destroyed them in game 4. Now seek the response you get... The response will be... "If the Avs had a healthy roster, it wouldn't of happened." Likely followed up with, "they have no chance against the Stars." The moral is, no matter how good we do, haters still hate, doubters have doubt... But the real issue is pure jealousy. Just an experiment, see how many people say this, and respond in this thread accordingly. It's gonna be fun!
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 I do that at work where most people are Flyer fans. They say the Wings choke every year and I am like at least they are in a position to choke every year and can't win them all.

The only thing I bought was us buying our team, reasonable maybe in '02... Now, the excuses and logic I get is obsurd.
EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) I think it was Milberry (or maybe it was someone else, I was half asleep lol) that was saying that exact thing after the game..."Ohh well, the Avs weren't healthy blah, blah, blah"! Lidsyukerberg 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Tell them to shove it up their ass. The Yankees don't have a salary cap. Not only that, but take a look at the draft for some of our best players: Lidstrom 3th round 53rd pick Zetterberg 7th round 210th pick Datsyuk 6th round 171st pick Franzen 3rd round 97th pick Holmstrom 10th round draft 257th pick Osgood 3rd round 54th pick It goes on. We don't buy up all the talent, we just know how to pick and then develop great players. Every team in the league had ample chance at these guys, they just don't have a front office that knows what they're doing. That's not our fault.

I was told by a Pens fan in MI that even if it's Pens/Wings for the SCF, he won't go to the Joe to give Illich any of his money because - get this - Illich is the reason for the lockout and all that is evil with hockey! Whatevs They'll always have some random excuse for why we win. The thing people forget in all this when they make excuses for why we beat the Aves, is how badly we beat them. You cannot deny that an Aves team with Svatos, Wolski, Forsberg and Smyth is a much better team. That's a fact. But if they played all it would've meant is that it would've taken longer to beat them and the series would've been a little closer. As it stands, the scores almost give a false impression of this thing being close. We didn't beat the Aves because they were injured. We obliterated the Aves b/c of it. We destroyed them. We toyed with them. They had no business being on the same ice as far as I am concerned. I said this after game 2. I haven't been this ho hum about a series in years. I had a feeling we'd sweep after game 1 and we did. This was no contest. This was a medieval ass pounding.

I actually think the Wings get too much credit for drafting Lidstrom, Pavel and Hank. Those guys were drafted so late that even the Wings passed up on them several times. It's not like these guys were the Wings' first choices. Look how many stiffs the Wings drafted in those seasons ahead of Pavel and Hank. You win some and you lose some. Inultus 12 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 When I rubbed it in the face of a Pitts fan he said we can't handle Pitts because we're too old. I didn't even bother responding, but I said you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. I mean peruse our roster, the Red Wings have not been an old team for a while now. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 3, 2008 Healthy roster my ass. It's not like the Wings won Game 4 2-1. All of Colorado's defensemen and goalies were both healthy and totally useless. When you give up 8 goals, you don't point the finger at the forwards.
yekcoh14 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2008 I always have to deal with a Flyers Fan too. When ever i talk to him he always says the wings had easy playoffs! We proved ourselves in the regular season (with a presidents trophy!) so we could have easier playoffs! Thats how it works! And now we are proving ourselves in the playoffs! However, my columbus fan friend will DVR the game for me if i miss it! Thats a friend!
