WCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

Cry me a freaking river Tippett. Crying about how the 3rd goal by Homer shouldn't have counted. "When a player is in the blue paint, the goal shouldn't have counted". "Marty wasn't given the chance to make the save, and we were told that when a player is in the blue paint, the goal will not count, obviously that didn't happen". Blah blah blah. Maybe you should focus on how badly your team sucked it up, and not about a "harsh" penalty call on that 5 on 3 PP for the Wings.

The Wings were the better team, plain and simple.

I think it's pretty funny that anyone from Dallas thinks a goal shouldn't count when a player in is the blue paint/crease. <_<

Even if the goal hadn't counted (as if there was a reason to deny it), they would have needed three more to win.

Lehtinen was not on the ice for the 1st two power play goals. Holmstrom's goal should have been called off. Wings could only score on power plays. Dallas was too tired after the 4OT game. This win was pure luck.

I was wondering how the Wings ended up winning this game... it certainly wasn't because they played well.

Refs gave them the Nashville series and they were still lucky to pull it off; Colorado had 90% of its team injured; etc...

Pure luck? What game were you watching? And as for the Homer goal, it is not illegal for players to be in the blue paint. Turco was at the top of his crease, and was right up against Homer, even had his glove on Homer's back. The puck was already on the way into the net when Homer's skate went into the crease, so I don't want to hear that Homer "kept Turco from making the save." How many times have the Wings had a goal called back on BS goalie interference calls? Too many to count.

I've seen alot more blatant goalie interference than that, and it didn't have any affect on the outcome of the game, so it doesn't matter at this point. It's just an excuse for Tippett to direct focus away from how badly his team sucked.

Edit: If you weren't being serious, then just ignore my defending of the Homer goal.

well congrats on the win.

The Stars did not deserve to win. They didn't even look like they deserved to be there. There was no pop in their steps. Detroit capitalized on their chances. See you guys at game 2.

I just hope the Stars are there then too.

You sir are a credit to your city and your team. I mean that. You need to give sportsmanship lessons to the cry babies in the Stars forums.

You know, maybe this is a small thing, but I noticed this immediately on the replay of the Red Wings' 3rd goal. The broadcasters made mention of that even when the Stars "win" a faceoff, Holmstrom goes in there and takes it away...

Wrong. Ott didn't "win" the faceoff.

Watch the replay -- it was a planned play. Zetterberg batted his blade at Ott's to make sure that puck went hard to the dasherboards and Holmstrom was gunning it to that point the whole way.

Planned play. Not luck.

I would like to see more 5 on 5 goals in the next game and the Holmstrom goal I would have to agree. He has to stay out of the crease. I hope they tell him that, he needs to be more careful about that or it will catch up to us.

I think he was being sarcastic. That is what the rolled eyes meant.

Thats what I was think - very ironic that Dallas has a problem with someone being in the crease.

just got home from the game...took the tunnel bus back to windsor.

i was 4 rows back from the corner closest to Turcos left blocker. man i have no voice left.

all i can say is ribiero is a punk. before the game i was taking pics of the wings in the distance, as they were on the other side of the ice...and since i was wearing a red wing jersey and was ignoring him, or cause im 6 foot 7, he tried to act all cool and slam the glass in front of me...so i did it back. he looked all pissy.

he was chiriping to ozzy behind the plays, chirping to lidstom...he talks like a tough guy to our classy staff...hes a punk. i bood every time he was in our corner...punk. he was whining to the refs during the commercial breaks too, and meanwhile we was hooking and interfering like nuts. i liked him till tonight...going to a game really gives you perspective on some players more than TV shows you.

I met Gordie Howe again. He was selling his book and signing them for 70 bucks. I bought one, and got it signed for me and my gf. Got some wicked pics too, and of the game, and the octopus , which came out of the scoreboard bottom tonight.

I told gordie he had huge hands, and if darren doesnt play he should get out there...he told me "my elbows do the talking" and laughed heheh...what a great guy...he told me at my size i should go out there...which i declined LMFAO!

MAN WHAT A GAME....i dont know what it looked like on TV, but we really controlled the puck well, and looked like we're in it to win it. Iits not about dallas being tired, they just didnt have control of the puck, cause we controled it!

MULE AGAIN! woo hooo

BTW you can feel the heat from the flame throwers on top of the scoreclock all the way on the ice! was wicked!

kowalski kielbasa, MGD, a wings big win in the conference finals, and meeting gordie again...what a night i will never forget.!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!

now going to watch the game in hi def 5.1, one of the mics was taped to the glass in front of us..lol bet i can recognize everyones yellings.

man i love the wings

I am waiting patiently for Clears to come on...I just feel him on the edge of breaking out.

Good win tonight....lets keep our focus.

I'm SO damn sick of this 'luck' BS. What the hell does this team have to do to get some damn respect? They've been the best team all regular season and the best team thus far in the playoffs. That is NOT luck, that is a great team rolling on all cylinders. Sure at times they are lucky, but you have to be damn good to get lucky every now and then. The Wings have earned everyone of their victories. The media can shove it where the sun don't shine. I'm sick of them.

thank god i was at the game and not listening to the idiots on TSN. wings were controlling the puck and won it by talent and desire. experts can go back to recordings of their predictions on tsn that Nashville, AND colorado would beat detroit. idiots

THATS RIGHT! We have so many awards and players and coach up for so many awards, tons of wins, and still we're just lucky? Give me a break.

I hate the media, for the most part. They're bandwagonning fools, who just like to see their names in print, or their faces on the screen.

I rather like that the Wings are not given the credit they deserve, even when it flies in the face of the obvious. It makes it more fun when they come back and stomp some team, and then the wonderful media make a big deal over how they knew that was going to happen. :P

Amen. I'm getting really fed up with the VS crew making so many excuses for x (x = detroit's current opponent). Then Eddie O (the most clueless prick in the broadcast booth) goes on random rants about how great x is. Versus really needs to revamp their network, because they produce very poor quality broadcasts - and a majority of it has to do with the poor talent of broadcasters they have. They really should push hard to get Gary Thorne and Bill Clement back together in the booth, and have Doc and somebody other than Eddie in the booth as another option. :ranting:

At least TSN gave the Wings some credit after the game. But I was watching the highlights on NHLnet. and that douchebag Bob Harwood asked Franzen if he felt the Wings got lucky because the Satrs were tired, did they play physical in the 3rd because they were afraid of what Dallas will bring next game. f***.

It'll be nice to win this series and have those d-bag commentators STFU when Lidstrom is hoisting the Cup at Center Ice.
