Pletzke26 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Ever since NHL 08 came out for the 360, I have known who was going to be in the stanley cup finals for this years playoffs. Its kind of wierd and crazy cause it can still happen, but every year when the new nhl comes out i start a season and fast forward to the stanley cup finals cause i want to see what the new celebration is like and how it has changed. Well when i did this it was detroit vs pittsburgh, and i was detroit and won. Then i went to my buddies house and he wanted to see it so we simulate and there it was again detroit vs pittsburgh, then i wanted to see if it was pure luck or what and i went back home tried it again for a third time on mine and it was detroit vs pittsburgh again, thats really frickin wierd. So im hoping it is Detroit and Pittsburgh because all my friends know about this story and i called it ever since this happened about 9 months ago. Its also funny to because when the season was about to start all the experts predicted Detroit and Pittsburgh so i think its gonna happen. what do you guys all think? Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Kronwall is a 73 in that game, even with the newly-updated rosters. Franzen, Filppula and Cleary all have horrid stats as well. Some good players on other teams, such as Pominville (high 70s) are also severely under-represented in skill. I did some HEAVY roster modifications---for ALL teams---before starting a dynasty. I tried the same thing, only I got the wings vs the sens. If you actually play the game, the wings and sens are easily the two best teams. EA sports always gives players on the wingers lower overalls, they have some huge bias against us. But overvalls in the game is a mean of a bunch of numbers. Defensemen are going to drop because their faceoff and stick handling is usually very low. But in hockey games for any pc or console, SPEED is what wins you games. I'm betting though.. since you posted this it will be Philly, not Pens. That always happens when I think something is going to happen and I tell everybody.. then it changes, when it was almost a GUARANTEE. Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 On another note, if you think stats for Wings players are f***ed in NHL 08, you should check them in EHM 07, even with updated rosters. Huds and Flip are about where I'd expect them, but compare Dats&Z to the top 2 forwards on many other teams and they have glaring holes and generally suck at defense (which is ironic, considering they're probably the best 2-way pair in the league at the moment...) Mule and Kronner have horridly low stats compared to their performance, Kronners stats are about equal to Lilja's in fact (don't wanna know how they figured that...) and Franzen barely makes it as a 3rd liner. After I've pulled off of waivers and done my pre-season trades, Cleary usually can't even occupy a spot on the 4th line. And what's even worse is Lids is barely even better than many of the other top D-men, some that while I think they are quite good, are not quite at Lids level either. I think this is more of a problem of some of those other players being rated to high rather than Nick being rated too low. The only good thing is that the grind line players (Maltby, Draper, and D-mac, who I /always/ grab off waivers..) are well-rated and make for an excellent low price shutdown line. Though, in my opinion, Draper's speed is a bit lower than it should be, and his faceoffs rating is a touch too low (its 18/20 I think, where it should probably be 20/20 if you compare that to the other players who have 20/20). He's only what, the top faceoff man in the league right now? Also, Ozzie is waaaay underrated, but that's just a reflection of how the media treats him I guess. The other glaring statistical anomoly in EHM 07 is how highly overrated Floppa is. Makes me wonder if the devs were all Avs fans.. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Having the same two teams reach the finals for you, three times in a row, is just hard to believe. If you would have stuck to once time, sure, but not 3. Actually a few days (or soemthing like that) after that Lidstrom goal happened, a similar thing happened in an online match I played off lid's stick. I was in my zone on the pk and I cleared it like normal and it went in haha (And I think I won that game 2-0). The goalie moved OUT of the way. Was pretty funny, that's NHL08 for you though. I've got a vid if anyone doesn't me believe me. I find the wings just really slow in the game. And like someone said, that's really all that matters. It coulda happened but 3 times back to back to back.... kinda sketchy I think Wings - Pens would kick ass... considering my manager is a big Pens fan I'd love to rub it in his face if the wing spanked em.
