A tradional market like Nashville????? are you kidding me!!!! That just proves that this guy/gal is a true d-bag!!! Once again, like I have in the other posts, I will stand behind the Detroit fans!! If this guy has soooo much money, fly on out and get a ticket, and you my friend can be as loud and wave your towel (like a *****) all you want. I think that people don't realize that Wings games are full of true hockey fans and we don't need to stand up a scream and piss and moan over every play. Wings fans are very knowledgeable, we don't need to scream and yell!! I will bet, if we win the Cup at the Joe, it will be as loud as ever!! YOU WON"T HERE THAT IN THE TRADTIONAL MARKET LIKE TRASHVILLE!!!!

Whenever I go to games at the Joe it's always vary loud. I don't understand this.

Yeah, I listen to some games on the radio, and the last game especially you could barely hear the announcers because the crowd was screaming the whole game.

I agree Wings fans aren't the loudest, though. Maybe all that will change when they win the Cup this year. ;)

i dont usually comment on these idiots like mitch albom bashing red wings fans but this is really grinding my gears. Im a 21 year old guy works as a night cashier at meijer for 7.50 an hr. I make on average close to $250 a week now with gas being $4 a gallon it costs me almost $55 to fill up my car. What im getting at is even with the ticket prices being lowered i can only afford to go to 1-3 games a year, these people like mitch albom dont know what its like for the common joes like me who really wanna go to games but cant afford too. I as i think most of you would love to trade places with mitch albom or don cherry or anyone else who criticizes wing fans. Finally there bashing the wrong people as was mentioned somewhere else on these fourms its the big wig coporate people that dont go to the games not the die hards like me and everyone else on this board. Also Tv ratings are up 34% from last year according to the detroit free press. Deep breath lol :ranting:

I agree, all the times I've gone, the place is loud.

Red Wings fans, Detroit fans in general, have seen it all. We don't need to blow the roof off the building in the 1st round, unlike Nashville, where they have NEVER won a 1st round. Detroit teams needs to do something for us before we go nuts. We'll try and give them a boost when they need it, but overall they need to show us something and earn our cheers. It's a good thing because the teams are accountable to the fans.

Edit: I find it  people in the media don't understand this.

What these d-bags don't understand is that Detroit fans are used to seeing excellence and have a lot higher expectations from their team. Living out here in California I see most of my live games when the Wings come to the Shark Tank. Yes it is a little louder than Detroit but the reasons for it are almost comical. I can't help but laugh when I'm sitting there watching the game and all of a sudden the whole places is up and yelling for apparently no reason. Then I realized they were cheering because one of their guys managed to get across the blue line and still had control of the puck, or someone caught a long pass in stride, their goalie stopped an unscreened shot from 60 feet, or any other little thing that Detroit fans would take for granted. Maybe Detroit fans need a decade or two of mediocrity so that we get excited about every little play.

Nah, screw that.

I don't currently live in Detroit, but was a long time resident. I can remember back in the day when The Wings were referred to as "The dead Things". I went to a few games then and it was loud, mostly booing and negativity. Then when we started to win (Yzermania) I would buy tickets just to stand in the aisle(eight dollars) and it was so loud you could hardly catch your breath. I love these morons who can't relate to the everyday fan that works for a living and supports a family and can't afford to go to games on a regular basis. I have allot of family still in the area and times are tough with the loss of jobs and declining auto industry. Maybe if these stuffed shirts lived a day in the life of common people of Motown, they would have a better perspective on reality. Attendence is down relative to the economy. Try going to a game and telling a group of Diehard fans that they ain't s*** ! You'll be picking your head outta your arse for the next week or so................................

We have the best fan base in the world.....Albom and Cherry can bite me !

I've been at the Joe. The Joe is loud when it's suppose to be loud. When it's not, true hockey fans are WATCHING INTENSELY. When you're watching a "puck possessive" team, you concentrate on each player as they play and yelling and shouting all the times gets in the awayof that concentration. Besides it's been said thousands of times, the mic's at the Joe suck and you can't hear the crowd on tv.

that's how it seemed when we went to the game last month @ the Joe.. it was loud when goals were being scored, when there's a good hit or scoring opportunity. Otherwise, people are paying attention to the game. Just because someone's not loud doesn't mean that they're not a true hockey fan or don't love their team. When I'm at an avs game I don't scream and yell the entire time. I just do it at the opportune moments :) (and I like NOT losing my voice!)

Summary: the person who wrote this article is in fact, a dumbass.

Meh, economy is tough, people are used to winning, things are expensive, etc. etc. etc. Same s**t different day. Nothing we haven't heard for the past 2 years.

I still know this team is good, I enjoy watching them regardless of the conditions, that's more than enough for me.

All those people that watch the games on TV or listen on the radio... I admit the noise is horrible... pathetic at best.

Blame the speakers on your TV/RADIOS and the mics set up around the joe NOT the fans actually in attendance. There is no comparison between being there and being at hime... NONE whatsoever

You know, amidst all this criticism over a few empty seats at the Joe and suggestions that the Wings' home ice advantage is no more, people seem to be glossing over the fact that we're now 7-0 at home in the playoffs, and 13-3 over the last two years. Doesn't seem like it's upsetting the players at all, eh?

There's a difference though. The players are usually less opinionated about things (at least on the surface) then the fans. And sometimes that can be a good thing. :P
