Turco - no respect

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Found this short snippet on Mlive.com - apparently Turco spoke to the Dallas News after the Ribeiro/Ozzie incident:

"When the intensity rises, we like our chances in that regard, too," Turco said. "We don't think much of them on a personal, character level. We think that's to our advantage."

I used to respect Turco, but after calling Ozzie "gutless" in spite of all the mean-spirited tripping/slashing he himself did in game 2 and now calling their personal character into question... talk about a ******.

Look - many people will agree that both Osgood and Ribeiro could be blamed for the little infraction. First of all, Osgood didn't do anything that Turco didn't do to Detroit during the game... not to say that he's right in tapping him... but Ribeiro was inarguably wrong in slashing him - pads or not. I think they made the right move in fining them both.

I'm not claiming that Detroit hasn't done their share of tripping/hooking/slashing... but the whole team deals with infractions against them with a lot more integrity.

In fact Red Wings TV has a game-day presser with Draper in which he praises the team and suggests a respect for the Stars.

Turco is losing a lot of respect for being such a sore loser.

Who cares what the little turd says to the press. He's just hurting inside because he was probably starting to believe his own press until he showed up in Detroit and met a team for the first time in the playoffs that had an offense where he was shown how over rated he really is. It sucks to have the rug pulled out from under you like that.

After tripping flip while skating backwards and sucker punching holmstrom in the back of the head he has no room to talk about integrity. I don't know if he's just trying to get under the Wings skin or if he really is that hypocritical.

I know that Dallas is trying to hype things up to get them going, but the problem is they are going to make the Wings want to play harder and in no way is that good for them. I still don't think Dallas has seen the best of The Big Wing Machine and if they're not careful, they'll get it. Oh well, Turco go screw!!! Dallas needs to pray upon Jesus Christ and see if he could play net for them, cause thats the only way there going to win this series.

The first thought that popped into my head when Ribeiro slashed Ozzy was "You just woke them up."

As the Flames, Sharks, and to a lesser extent the Ducks will tell you -- that's not good.

Jesus saves... Datsyuk gets the rebound, fires to Zetterberg, Zetterberg takes the slapshot and SCORES.

Somebody needs to pull Turco aside and give him pointers on how NOT to speak to the press. He has made himself look completely unsportsmanlike-- not to mention petty, whiny, and childish.

Marty's just made himself his own worst enemy (sorry, Homer, that drops you down to #2).

Does anyone else remember when Turco clotheslined Datsyuk? I think it was a couple of years ago and Datsyuk was skating by the crease and he stuck his arm out and got dats in the neck. After the play was whistled dead, Dats skated up to Turco, bent down and "talked" to him for about 15 seconds, I always wondered what Dats said to him. It seems like Turco does stuff like that every game, he should be the last one to say anything about Ozzy.

Turco learned his stellar tactics from the "best," Ed Belfour. Let him talk, off the ice. He doesn't do a very good job on the ice, since one can't really say his play does his talking for him. <_<

They should have kept Mike Smith, but I am of the opinion that Smitty's excellence threatened Turco. Again, just like his mentor, Belfour. Turco can be #1 at the golf course, and that will be payment enough for me.

All this tells me is that Turco is a frustrated goaltender. As are the Stars in general.

All the whining about Holmstrom, Osgood, the faceoffs... it's all signs of a frustrated team.

What a bitchslap they just gave him. He probably pisses his pants just at the mention of Datsyuk. How many highlight reels of Datsyuk making him his ***** are there now?
