ESPN's Mike Greenberg predicts a comeback

Shock radio, yellow journalism, et. al. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm sure Mike & Mike's ratings are going down since I started my boycott against them. One says something outrageous to try to get listeners back on board. It creates publicity. Look how many responses this thread has as an example.

I don't really understand how this 33 year has come about. So a team makes a 3-0 comeback and 33 years later another team does it. So let me count there, it has happened just once over the span of 33 years (meaning that it would have to have happened twice 33 years apart putting the NHL at 99 years old at the earliest). So 33 years later comes 2008 with 2 teams in their CF 3 games up and they both lose game 4. Not going to put any stock into it.

Can't stand the Flyers but glad they got a win tonight. Can't stand the Penguins witherwith their poster boy. Time for everyone to know who Zets and Dats really are come the Finals.

I'm still nervous for Saturday, it's just as important the Wings win as it is for the Stars. If the Starts win it's 3-2 and I don't like our odds in Dallas for game 6 with the the way the game is being called there.

Also, there is just a part of me that Turco is due for a win at the Joe. All that said I am just nervous and being a little pessimistic about this whole thing.

Oh, I'm scared to death...we lose, and all of a sudden, we're in a position where all they need to do is beat us once to force a game 7. And they get to try in Dallas. With all the momentum.

So yeah, it's hard to have a must-win game when you're up 3-1 in a series, but game 5 is the next step below that for us.

Agree with Vlad too...1942 and 1975 are 33 years apart. BFD. 33 years after 1975 had to come sometime, and it happened to be now. If it were to happen this year, then sure, I'd be freaked out if the Wings have a 3-0 lead in a series in 2041, because then you'd actually have a pattern going. Right now, we only have one data point.

Besides, who's to say that every 33 years is the pattern? What if it just starts counting up, 33, 34, 35, and it's not due until next year? What if it goes 33, 44, 55? Or 33, 66, 99? I guess that's why trying to explain cosmic forces that are beyond understanding usually doesn't work.

Well, the guy's still in the clear...still no 4 games won by anybody.

I think people are feeling a little uneasy about calling this guy a nimrod regarding this now...

I don't.

He's a dumbass who doesn't know anything about hockey. I hope him and all of espn burn in hell.

Still definitely the chance though to make plenty of people in here look pretty foolish.

And wanting ESPN to burn in hell is going a bit off the deep end I think.

Seems like popular opinion here on LGW.

Besides, he didn't make his prediction based on anything he saw in the series (as if he's even seen a minute of it) but based on history repeating itself. This guy is a dumb ass espn employee.

Seriously, why bump this? To put people in their place?

Here's to Wings in 6. :beerbuddy:

If he'd been right, kudos to him. He's still a nimrod, yellow journalist, and a sensationalist. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Same difference. Who knows. It could happen the next round. I still won't listen to him. He's a "journalist" who admittedly hates hockey. Mike and Mike can take a long walk off a short pier. I don't care about those f***ers. I've wasted too much of time responding in this thread ... twice now.

"if the comeback doesnt come from the Stars then the Flyers will comeback against the Pens..mark my words, it will happen in one of these series".

I don't understand why people say, "mark my words".
