I've always been a fan of Jiri when he was brought into the league and to see him now makes me sad but also happy that he is doing better. I kept seeing him in the press box with Stevie and Scotty during the first two SCF games and it made me smile each time. He's one of my favs.

Its always good to see Jiri, his attitude is second to none, he's just happy to be living when he could just as easily be bitter and pissed off about his situation.

Tough break for him, he was a force to be reckoned with and hadn't even hit his prime, but having said that living is a much bigger priority than a career.

I would love to see him as an assistant coach down in Grand Rapids, many AHL teams have two assistants,

Nothing against Jim Paek, but I would love to see Jiri involved with the organization.

It won't take a medical breakthrough curing his issues. All it would take is a definitive doctor's assessment saying that playing hockey did not increase the risk of a relapse. In other words; if he faces the same danger on the ice that he would sitting on his couch, they may let him back on the ice as it isn't an increased danger.

As far as Fischer being great...I thought he was our best defenseman to the point in the season he went down. And he would be better now. We wouldn't have Brad Stuart...but we likely end up with the Cup in 2007 if Fischer is still around.

Tedy Bruschi for example, the reason the Pats and His wife (moreso his wife) were willing to let him back on the field was that the doctor said playing football had no impact on the risks of him having another stroke or any kind of ailments from his heart condition. IF the Dr's said that about Fisch I am pretty sure he would be back on the ice!!!!!

And to piggy back another one of your points, Fisch Kronwall pairing would be stupid, I don't mean stupid in a bad way I mean that pairing would be stupid good, I love the Stuart Kronwall pairing but Fisch was on track to be better than Stuart and I would wager when he went down he was better than Stuart is now.

The question would be is Ralf still acquired with a Healthy Fisch?

But if I remember correctly Fisch is at the Joe quite a bit and has a role in the team.

I could be wrong though.

He's doing so well in player development that I'd hate to see him leave for a coaching job, but coaching is part development, too. I say give him an assistant job.

Just picture it, 10 years from now we could be witnessing an Yzerman-Fischer coached team. Defensive smartness with explosing offensive talent.

We should be witnessing Yzerman GM Larionov Coach Lids assistant with Shanny thrown in the mix somewhere!

Fisch will be second to Lids in developing D talent or he will be the coach in GR!!!

I still remember that happening.... it was on my birthday and we all went out to the bar for dinner and the game. Needless to say the night didn't turn out the way we wanted.
