Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted June 5, 2008 The win is great, but I have a few issues. 1. Sidney Crosby is a whiny brat and I almost take more happiness in his misery. 2. Their coach was a whiney ***** and his moaning did have an effect that hurt us. 3. The refs. Oh man, the refs. I can't buy a conspiracy theory, but nothing else explains them. We won despite their awful calls, but I can't let got the hate. 4. The media. Did anyone hear it mentioned any time in a pre game show that we happened to be the best team in the NHL all year? No, it was Cindy, Cindy... all the damn time while our stars had their moment and were barely acknowledged. Anyone else feel a little left over bitterness, or am I just getting too old? YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I just cant believe the reffing. They literally TRIED to give the Penguins the game. It was like they panicked and had to give any Red Wing ANY cheap penalty. Theres literally no other way to explain it. NO OTHER WAY. That penalty on Hudler was a JOKE. That s*** was going on all night and its called with 1.5 minutes left in the game. Give me a ******* break.
Anomalously 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 A side of bitterness to go with the Cup? For me -- no thanks. I'll take a second helping of Lord Stanley next year, though.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I was pretty pleased with the reffing in this series. Yeah they didn't call stuff, but they didn't call stuff both ways. The Wings and Pens were able to play some real hockey. It reminded of the late 90's almost.

I see your point. The headline is that Crosby lost, not that the Wings won. Although we don't care since we kicked their asses.
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Remember in either game 1 or 2 when they kept going back to Mellon arena for "Mellon Vision" (not a bad term)? Why couldn't they do a shot of Joe Vision? WTF?

But it feels even better knowing that the Wings beat not only Cindy and the Penguins, but also the refs, the media, and those biased ******* announcers on NBC. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 No bitterness here. We beat the terrible reffings and a great offensive team. No amount of whining can take away the awesomeness of this moment.

Right, and I would rather not think of any of that. Our boys were great and are the greatest. It will pass, but it is hard. Detroit and the Red Wing's have done far more for hockey than Pittsburgh ever did, and we sure did it with more class all along. We all know it, but it would be nice if there were a little recognition. Okay, screw it. We won and that's it!

RedArmy 4 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 wings overcame it all that is why they are the TRUE stanle cup CHAMPS:) yea I hated Cindy before the playoff even started and I do still hate HIM:) Mario though did say wings deserved to win it:) although I have to give props to Pens for playing so well for a young team. Cindy needs to grow up to be a true leader, but the kid kept scoring. If you ask Stevie Y or Scottie hits not all about scoring...
C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 After I heard some boos for Z going to get the Conn Smythe, I yelled "go screw your goats, or whatever it is you do for fun in Pittsburgh." That pretty much got it out of my system, after that I was able to just soak in the moment.

lomekian 201 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 AH who cares....they tried to stop us and they couldn't....admittedly my sleep patterns in the ukare aittle pissed about the reffing in game 5, but right now I couldn't give a rats arse! Just be thankful it was an away game so O'Halloran couldn't wave off hank's stanley cup winner!
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 There was no conspiracy against the Wings. Watch the games objectively. There are calls both ways that were horrid, and calls both ways that were missed. Example, in game 4 third period (I think). Pens powerplay, Crosby breaks his stick, goes to the bench and grabs a new one. Play continues, puck comes to Crosby, he beats Cleary and carries the puck into the corner. Cleary shoots a piece of Crosby's broken stick at Crosby. Both refs watched it, and let it go. It's an automatic 2 minute minor. I won't even give an example of a bad call that went against Detroit, I'm sure you all have a few that come to mind. The point is, the refs were bad, but it wasn't as if the Pens were the sole beneficiary, or even received the majority of the benefits.
