Poor Don. Poor Gary.

Hossa coming over to the Wings must've put a real sour feeling in their bellies.

Not only does Golden Boy Sid lose his superstar winger, but that Euro rich team that won the Cup looks almost like a lock for next year's Cup.....because they added yet another "soft" Euro superstar.

Hell, we'll likely only play a single North American player - Cleary - in the top 9 of our forward corps next season.

Joking aside, Draper.

I like the balance of nationalities on defense, which Cherry never mentions when talking about the Wings. Nick, Kronner, and Lilja are Swedes, Lebda, Rafalski, and Chelios are Americans, and Stuart is Canadian. What's there to ***** about. That my friends is symbiosis.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, its very difficult to win back to back championships. But yeah, another "soft" euro on our team, how will we ever win  I just don't feel bad for either of those two :P

Well, I guess it's just a matter of how the team lines up, but I'd consider Draper's line to be the fourth if they line up as I anticipate:

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom

Hossa, Filppula, Franzen

Cleary, {Kopecky or Helm}, Samuelsson

Maltby, Draper, McCarty

You don't like Hudler?

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom

Franzen, Filppula, Hossa

Cleary, Draper, Samuelsson

Hudler, Kopckey/Helm, Maltby

Thats what I'm thinking and thats why I have Draper in the top 9.

Whoops, can't believe that I left off Hudler.

So much talent that I was able to look him over.

I'd line us up thusly:

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom

Hossa, Filppula, Franzen

Hudler, Kopecky, Cleary

Maltby, Draper, McCarty

Reserve: Samuelsson

As much as I love the Grind Line, they're the fourth line with this much talent to spread around.

Cant complain about Hossa, obviously. But we'll have lots of Canadian content, Cleary, Draper, Maltby, Downey, Stuart, McCarty, Quincey, Meech, and possibly others. Too bad we dont have more, but once again, cant complain.

Yea, cause we need more because???????

Not that we NEED IT, but I really see us having both Downey and Mac if they are willing to go for min. because we will need even more protection now that the ONLY way a team will be able to slow us down is to just cheapshot us. But I do agree the top lines can for the most part take care of themselves.

Screw Sammy! I dont know why people like to line this guy up. He sucks! Play hudler instead. I like the old grind line together again!

So it should be:

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holmstrom

Hossa, Filppula, Franzen

Cleary, {Kopecky or Helm}, Hudler

Maltby, Draper, McCarty

Well... Sammy is better, than Maltby, or Mac. He is very good on his own end, and can 30-40pts. Actually TC will settle all things.

...phuk McCarty, he's washed up! Sit Sammy for McCarty? Downey will see more time than McCarty, they shouldn't even waste the league minimum on McCarty...

...Helm inplace of Kopecky, since he won't be ready to start the season...

The Grind Line is the 3rd line. Why don't people get this?

And besides, Cleary plays with Drapes and Malts and it WORKS. They often start games to provide a jump start to the first period, depending on what the other team throws out (home games), and very often start on the road.

I am proud to say I was at Mac's first game back, and they started the Grind Line, and the place went nucking futs. I also noticed them play a shift in the playoffs against Dallas and was very psyched.

While Cherry likes the game to be played a certain way obviously and we all know what that type of game is, he pretty much picked Detroit to win the Cup from the start (of the playoffs at least), so I don't understand how he'd be all that bitter.

Were you saying that Samuelsson sucked during game 1 or game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals when he had a pretty important part of some of the goals being scored to help win the games?

What's the difference? On the paper they can be the 1st line. Coach will give them their minutes.
