#19=Legend 29 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 The Tigers could very well win 100 games this year. Wait.....

SnipeShow 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 imagine we won 68 and the jackets made the playoffs.... funny way to break even
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted July 11, 2008 you could very well find yourself out of 100, allthough it will probablybe a wash. I dont think we can win 68 no matter how good we are
Grim 5 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 68 wins is impossible. no way in any shape or form does Babs push this team for useless regular season records.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 (edited) So I guess the summary of replies to this thread is: the OP is either stupid or doesn't like to be weighed down by his own money. Which is also stupid. Edited July 11, 2008 by Doggy
puckbags 863 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 ok i know the canucks are a long shot, but they have luongo and if somehow they get hot at the right time you would be out 1,000 bucks. that would really suck I will take my chances !!
Holmstrom96Screens 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 So my buddy and I were talkin about the wings fan this year (he's a pens/jackets fan) and I was just sayin how sick the wings wil lbe. He is still salty and thinks that hossa won't "fit into babcocks system." I told him I gurantee the wings would win 68 games this season and he didn't think they'd come close. Thoughts? 68 ! wheni do the math, and my math aint very good, the season is 82 games, half of that is 41. 68 is almost 30 more games than the half. not far off of 30. Could the wings realistically do that? Sure they're a good team. but like someone said their record is 62. I dont think they'll win that many - 68 - but thats just me. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Wings will win 50-55 if everything goes well. No chance to win 68 games. You just lost 50 bucks.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 I could see the wings going 60-15-7 and having over 125 pts but no way they get over 130 pts and 65 wins, youll see that after we have home ice locked up there will be a lot of resting of key players, probably Conklin will be playing a lot down the streach, and we wont win at an over 80% clip durning that period. But as we saw in 96 you its hard to win 60+ games and have a rested team for the playoffs.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 (edited) Kiss that $50 goodbye. 68 wins is absurd. Not gonna happen. QFT Not a chance in hell. Yeah seems a bit out of reach. Even Jon Kitna is thinking "WTF?". :rotflmao: Edited July 11, 2008 by Never Forget Mac #
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 While I think 68 wins is a bit too much, I do think they have a legitimate shot to break BOTH the single season win and point records. Since the lockout ended, they have averaged a 54-19-11 record. They averaged 54 wins a year and in the 3 years since lockout, only lost 56 games total (in reg). They have virtually the same players as they did except Dom. If they only won 1/2 of the games in the longest slump in 20 years, they hit 60 wins. My prediction days before the schedule comes out (I read July 16th somewhere) is this..... 64-13-5 which gives them 133 points. Like another poster said, it is the 16 wins after the regular season that count.
Zion 93 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 yes wings hold the record w/ 62 pts. Also consider this: The wings will be playing every team in the league and playing central opponents 2 games less. People talk about how weak the central is, but the fact of the matter is that the wings did FAR better against the rest of the league than they did against the central (i think we were barely over .500 against them but dont quote me on that). I think its a good bet but the only thing I could get screwed on is Babs resting players near the end of the season. It's wins, but you're right. They picked apart the more competitive Northwest and tougher Pacific divisions. That's an awesome stat, and I love seeing posts on other boards bring that up. octopusonice 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 If the Wings can get home ice advantage throughout the playoffs by winning 50 games, and don't finish the season in a slump (althought they did in 2002 and still ended up OK ) that's all I need as a fan. It's all about the Cup.
bellarina 1 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Maybe 56 games.....maybe. You lost 50 bucks for sure!
Packer487 3 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 You could've bet him that the Wings would break the all-time win record (or the all-time point record) and saved yourself a few games. Even with the elimination of ties, 68 wins is absurd. That would be 136 points, even without OTLs. We won the President's Trophy this year with 115 and the next highest had 108. There's no way they keep playing that hard the entire season if they're up 30 points on the rest of the league. Absolutely no way. I think you'll win the $50 on the Jackets missing the playoffs, but for the Wings bet you would have been better off going down to Greektown and throwing $50 on black, because the odds of winning would have been a LOT better. Even throwing $50 on any number on the roulette wheel would have given you better odds, and the payout would've been much larger...
Doggy 130 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Yeah seems a bit out of reach. Even Jon Kitna is thinking "WTF?". Hey, that reminds me - what's this season's projection from Jonny Boy? 10 wins? 11?
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 I dunno. I think its a safe bet. I mean... it is the Jackets.
mpitts 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 I'd lay 10:1 on $100 that the Wings win 67 or less games.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 Yeah, dumbest bet of all time. That would be like betting that the Patriots go undefeated, they got close but to beat the all time record by that large of a margin is insane. If you made a bet that they won 60 games or even tied the win mark I'd give you a shot.... I mean they were on pace at one point in the year before Feb. to best their record, and we all know what happened. I remember at one point looking and seeing them have to win 4 games for every loss to make it or something like that.
