Tr!PoD#19 524 Report post Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) Nabokov is good enough to cancel it out i think Not a chance. Canada, followed by Russia, followed by Sweden. Edit: I'd swap St. Louis for Nash, he lights it up at international competitions. Edited July 22, 2008 by Tr!PoD#

Namingway 146 Report post Posted July 22, 2008 I'm going to have to go with Russia over Canada then the Swedes for bronze. Canada and Russia both have great players in their line-ups but since I have to consider the chemistry my vote goes to Russia.

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) Why is it immediately assumed that the Russians will have oodles of chemistry? Not chemistry... But putting Datsyuk between Kovalev and Ovechkin could wreck any opposition. Crosby/Thornton/Iggy could be a deadly line too. Set Iginla up all day. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 Okay, say if selective hockey nations were to play each other 3 on 3, all forwards, with 2 lines each in a tournament... Which nation would come out on top? Some things to consider are skill and chemistry here. Canada Crosby - Thornton - Iginla Heatley - Lecavalier - St. Louis Goalie: Luongo USA Parise - Gomez - Kane Brown - Drury - Pominville Goalie: Miller Sweden Zetterberg - Sundin - Alfredsson Sedin - Sedin - Franzen Goalie: Lundqvist Czech Republic Elias - Plekanec - Jagr Prospal - Lang - Havlat Goalie: Vokoun Russia Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Kovalev Kovalchuk - Malkin - Morozov Goalie: Nabokov Slovakia Nagy - Gaborik - Hossa Demitra - Satan - Svatos Goalie: Budaj Finland J. Jokinen - O. Jokinen - Selanne Hagman - S. Koivu - Lehtinen Goalie: Kipprusoff Miscellaneous Vanek - Kopitar - Antropov Kostitsyn - Kostitsyn - Zubrus Goalie: Huet Canada would probably win, but the dominance and natural chemistry of Russia and Sweden would make a huge challenge. I think that'd be a good tourny though, who would win? Edit: I added an 8th miscellaneous team instead. No way St. Louis makes Canada's squad. Don't forget Spezza, E. Staal, Briere, and Nash....just to name a few I'd take before St. Louis. How did Modano, Rolston, Cole, Umberger or Stafford not make the US squad? Brown and Pominville are good, but come on. I won't go any further, cuz I'm too lazy. I'm going to go with Russia, they have the players that have the skill set best suited for a 3-3 tourny.

Umberger and Stafford? Well the other 3 you mentioned might arguably be just as capable as Brown and Pominville, but Umberger and Stafford? Pominville is probably the best player on Buffalo, Stafford just makes the cut as a second liner there. Umberger sure had a great playoff run, but that particular 3 rounds worth make him one of the best American hockey player? No dice.
stactum 4 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 I am going with Russia in this one too, what's good for Canada, that you could probably make like 3 lineups from quality players that they have.
