consider him this years Hartigan

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=45123

he put up 122 point in the AHL the season before last

I really like this signing. I watched him play a few times in Atlanta and he has some potential.

My wish is that when he does get called up to play with the Wings he gets top line minutes.

It's always bothered me when coaches bring up an offensive player and then shove them on the 4th line, for 6 minutes a game, and lament on how they're displeased with their offensive output.

Stick him with Dats or Zetts for a game and see how he does. He can obviously finish in the AHL. Why not see what he can do with real talent in the NHL?

I don't see this guy cracking the lineup, but who knows; stranger things have happened.

I'd like to know what his problem is, because a player who's put up that many points in the AHL should have gotten more of a chance by now, especially on an offensivily deprived team like Atlanta. I'd assume it is his size, but it could be something else. I guess we'll find out next season.

It's overall a decent signing, since he does have potential; if not anything, he'll bring some much needed offense to Grand Rapids next season.

judging by the quote at the bottom of the article (talking about being in the Northern Conference), he's obviously expecting to spend the majority of his time in the AHL.

it's a good depth move though. that grand rapids roster is very skilled, but VERY young.

at least he won't have any issues getting lost when the play Anaheims farm team (you'll either get this bad joke or you wont)

It can't be attitude or pesonality issues. He was named captain of the Wolves last year and their coach (John Anderson) wouldn't do that with a head-case or primadonna.

Considering that it was Don Waddell that never gave this kid a serious chance, I wouldn't put much stock in his not sticking with the Trashers. Waddell has basically done nothing with that franchise.

At the very least it'll be great for a young centre like Cory Emmerton to have such a skilled winger on his line in GR.

Well he put up 1-7-8 in 16 games with Atlanta last year- 0.5 ppg isn't too shabby for a call-up, but that may have been on the first or second line with Atlanta's roster... so who knows?

Regardless, this is obviously a good move for Grand Rapids.

Atlanta may be the worst run organization there is; yes, even worse than the Leafs.

I believe their farm team is owned and managed seperately, so they literally do not work together and have no plan or cohesive structure for development. The AHL team wants to keep its players and not send them to the Thrashers.

I had a drink with him once. No joke. In fact...I think I paid....

DARREN HAYDAR? THAT GUY OWES ME MONEY!

But seriously, seemed like a very nice guy. And from what I've seen of his game, it's not too shabby. Point being, I doubt his "problem" has anything to do with his personality. It's probably his size, or lack thereof. If you're 5'9 and absolutely gifted in some area of the game, chances are you're not going to go too far in the big league.

But here's to hoping he does, eh?

What's length gotta do with it, if someone were to be 5'9 220lbs alot of guys wouldn't be able to move you at the ice...range might not be as good but short people can outplay bigger ones in other aspects... weight is probably more important than length... while football is length+weight = superior.

We should put him on a line with Hudler and Lebda. The New Grind Line.

Too bad he is so small though, his stats seem to say that he is a pretty good hockey player.

He is pretty much the same size as hudler though, so it is certainly possible that he could eventually make the team.
