edicius 3,269 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Yeah, Crawford is in full CYA mode, but if he's not lying through his teeth... http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=246844&lid...os=topStory_nhl Makes me want to watch some of the video previous to the incident now to see if he really did ignore his shift change solely to go after Moore as Crawford claims. Spinner 6 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Ya Crawfords an idiot, but I'm pretty sure he didn't tell Bertuzzi to go break Moores neck. I could be wrong tho. I don't know a lot about the legal system but feel the lawsuit should stop at Bertuzzi. Yes Moore deserves compensation, but to sue everyone associated with Bertuzzi just seems like a bit much. Kinda like if I fart in an elevator, people will sue me, the people who sold me the food that made me fart, the company I work for, the people who built the elevator and on and on... But if suing everyone to is required to get just compensation, then sobeit. Sorry to stray from topic....Crawford's an azzhat!
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 It's a litigous society. People sue everybody and anyone hoping they can get money from some one or anybody. Lawyers go after the deep pockets. Frankly I'm surprised the Canucks and the NHL haven't been sued yet.

auxlepli 17 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Bettman and the NHL can install the safety nets, which was reactionary. Yet they haven't banned fighting yet. What gives? More hypocrisy from the duplicitious one.

Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Ya Crawfords an idiot, but I'm pretty sure he didn't tell Bertuzzi to go break Moores neck. He didn't have to in order to be "guilty" in this case, imo. A direct order along the lines of "take care of Moore" and a "slit throat" motion would probably suffice. Let's not forget, this is the guy who climbed over the glass so he could spew venom on Scotty Bowman's face.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Yes, but it's not banned. What's the difference?
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 I suppose it is the same difference, but if the NHL wanted to ban fighting then it'd ban, forever, the players who did. It's a tacit acceptance of fighting and players who do.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) this whole thing of shifting blame is bulls***, neither should be in the league anymore, not as much Crawford because one, you can't prove he was calling for it and two, either way Bertuzzi is a grown man who can make his own decisions. Bertuzzi shouldn't even be allowed in the league after the incident, so the fact that here we are 4 or 5 years later still talking about what should happen is ridiculus. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 Yes, but it's not banned. Moore wasn't injured in a fight and Bertuzzi was suspended for the remainder of that season.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted August 19, 2008 this guy has absolutely no shame. he was laughing his ass off when he saw Bertuzzi jumping on Moore and now he claims it was against his orders. Crawford should've been out of this league for years no. he's a disgrace to NHL

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted August 20, 2008 What's the difference? Baseball. Just because steroids were illegal, they weren't banned from the MLB. Throw a rock at a person's head on purporse, that's intent to injury and a slew of other charges, in baseball, it's a good play. Just because Fighting is illegal, doesn't mean NHL should ban it. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted August 20, 2008 Crawford is such a goon. I don't think he told Bertuzzi or anyone else on the Nucks to break Moore's neck, but I have no doubt he encouraged the "hunting down" of Moore.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted August 20, 2008 Bertuzzi, McSorley, Simon were suspended. They weren't banned forever from the NHL. I never said fighting should be banned. If Bettman and the NHL were truly worried about lawsuits as they seemed to be when they installed the safety nets, then I would think, obviously incorrectly, that they would be concerned about fighting, and fighting related incidents, leading to lawsuits too. Obviously, a player will have to die first.

Generally speaking, courts in the US and Canada have ruled that a player injured during a "routine" fight in a hockey game will not be successful in a lawsuit.
