Robert Lang traded to Montreal

he will get eaten up be montreal press and radio people. I hope they aren't expecting much of him because if they try him in a second line role he will get destroyed and not meet expectations for 16 minutes a night. If he plays 11 minutes with secondary PP time, then he might work out for them. We'll see, right now that trade doesn't make sense because they just got rid of Ryder who was SLOW, UNMOTIVATED, and did not back check. spitting image of an older LANG.

good luck Bob Lang

I think this is pretty good news, me being a red wing fan and all. It seemed every time the Wings struggled last season against Chicago, Lang was a part of it. A goal or an assist or something. So hopefully this weakens the Blackhawks a little when the Wings play them.

First advice made by Scotty?

2nd Scotty really liked campbell I bet he advised his son on him.

I sort of wondered how long Lang had left when Bowman went to Chicago.

Lang is a good team guy I think he will do ok in Montreal might help their dressing room, they are quick though so he might have to glide around quicker.

I take it Montreal has given up on Sundin...

Is anyone still after him?

I guess with Lang gone the Hawks won't be so good against the Wings. Now if they get rid of the other ex-Wings everything will be back to the way it was. :P

Montreal added a couple of enforcers over the offseason, so you are a little outdated with your post.

At this point, their team could beat our team in a brawl.

What are you talking about. They added Larague. Granted, he's a real heavyweight but he's in that upper echelon where there are only about 7-10 guys that would even fight him. Who else do they have? Tom Kostopolous?

Maybe you are the one who is outdated my friend. Other than Laraque, they haven't got a whole lot of toughness.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong though. I'll be holding my breath.

I like it for Montreal because they're so talented that Lang will look even better (fantasy leaguers take note...late round sleeper)

I don't like it for Montreal because they are softer than friggin' charmin. That team needs more nasty on it and they ain't got it. Too much of a good thing. They look like the East version of the Wings from a few years ago. Advice for montreal: Look at the Wings, you gotta add a Drake, a Stuart, a Downie, you gotta add some nasty to that Euro talent-laden lineup. Have to have some nasty to win it all.

Oh yeah, and with Toews and Kane, who the heck needs Lang anymore.

Yea because Downey cemented our Stanley Cup with his performance in the playoffs. Oh wait.....

You know a little funny feeling inside me tells me the hawks will trade khab, either for a good forward or trade him for picks and sign someone big.... I wonder who?????

They can't trade Khabi because nobody in their right mind would pay him 6.75 mil a year. They overpaid for him and are now stuck with him for 1 more year. My bet is that they buy him out.

Good point. Both Lang and Williams played hard against us when they were in Chi-town. Now with Lang to Montreal (following another "fan-bashing-favorite" in Dandenault :P) and Williams in Atlanta, that play-hard-against-your-former-team element of the Blackhawks is gone. Perhaps now we'll be back to the whole "Blackhawks stink it up against us until the last couple weeks of the regular season" status quo. Of course, that's not to say that they don't still have some good players on their team, so who knows? Despite this clearly being a salary dump, this could actually help the Blackhawks.

Guest LivingtheDream

Last night the NHL channel showed Game 5 of the WCF the year before against the Ducks (we lost 2-1 in OT) and watching it was painful for many reasons. Without knowing about this particular news and not wanting to even think about The Lazy One it was sooooo easy to see that Lang (not to mention Bertuzzi) offered not much to this team. God am I glad Lang is gone. There are those who might say that he came through in the playoffs and could score... but come on. After the insane full tilt both ends of the ice effort we just enjoyed (and stellar performances by Hank and Pavel) there is just no place for a player like Lang in a team built for success on the idea that everyone pitches in everywhere - offense, defense, boards, scrumming, hitting... from that list Lang is batting 1 out of 4. Chicago made a good move.

They added Ryan Flinn, who is a pretty good scrapper. Overall, they have more guys who can drop the gloves than we have. Yeah, maybe a lot of those guys aren't great fighters, but it still disproves your argument that they need to sign more toughness and more fighters to mimic us.

You can stop holding your breath now.

Also, for the love of all things holy: shut up, GMR.

The Habs are soft as butter. The Wings would absolutely demolish them.

<_<

You're still as immature as hell, aren't you? Do you need me to change your underwear for you again, Dabura?

Fact is we would demolish them in a game, but they're not any softer a team than we are. We're just a lot more talented and better at defense and goaltending.

I think that they are tough enough. As you said, they signed Laraque, Flinn, Shawn Belle...

They have also some grinders: Steve Bégin (BIG hitter), Tom Kostopoulos (will drop the golves), Maxim Lapierre (dirty),

Def: Francis Bouillon (small but strong), Mike Komisarek (next Scott Stevens), Ryan O'Byrne...

I think that Montreal is tougher than Detroit.

Cool. Montreal as soft as swiss cheese. We have guys too. Cleary (Hard working, hits, will drop the gloves) If your gonna count Lapierre then I'll say Maltby, since he is tougher. And yes, I watched a ton of Habs games last year. If your gonna count Franky Bouillon, then I'll count Chelios, Stuart, Quincey, etc.

We have Downey and McCarty as well, we're tougher then Montreal.

The Habs have some grinders. That's great. The Wings went toe-to-toe with the Flames, Sharks and Ducks in succession two seasons ago -- and this current lineup is arguably even tougher than that one. What you still don't seem to understand is that team toughness is not measured simply by the number of "tough guys" you have; it's a team-wide thing, and the Wings have their number there.
