miller76 463 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 The fourthperiod.com is posting what the Chicago Daily Herald has reported. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/chi080916.html I am curious how two big personalities like Bowman and Burke could co-exist in one organization. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 I was expecting the link to have relevance to Darren McCarty's birthday. Since that's not the case, all I can say is :rotflmao: Scotty would spit him out like so much bad couscous. I can't believe the Ducks are considering re-signing him, unless they want him to face the mess he made for next summer's negotiations. Crazy.
DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 If Chicago wants to ruin their current ending of a rebuilding stage then Burke would be a good idea.

akustyk 84 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 they have plenty young talent to waste which is perfect environment for Burke. Brian will excell in selling Hawks best draft picks for has-beens and calling it "bringing the right elements". unfortunately, he's not gonna get free gifts now and Blackhawks would end up screwed just as Canucks, badly needing another lengthy rebuild period. Hawks could do this because they're used to being NHL worst for long periods and they shouldn't mind being f* by Brian. but that doesn't make much sense. truth being said I'd feel pity for them. this town deserves quality team finally. there are other teams which I'd rather see affected by Burke pest though, no one beats Anaheim and I'd gladly see their further downfall
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Let them have him and be screwed over like Vancouver and Anaheim. Edited September 20, 2008 by Hockeytown0001
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 it is down right hilarious how Burke can have such high esteem when anyone that looks at Vancouver and now Anahiem can see the guy gets there when the team is getting great, adds a free-agent, makes a decent push one year, then proceeds to waive unused trade bait, hand away picks, and overpay Bertuzzis and Schnieders of the world. I think they are more than half their roster UFA next season and he'll cut and run just like he did in Vancouver. Personally, I'd like the Blackhawks and Maple Leafs to get back to being contenders, but Burke is going to go f*** it up...

I dont think they will. If Burke went to Chicago the first thing Id expect him to do is bring in his own people. Stan Bowman would probably be looking for a job. If Stans gone I think it unlikely that Scotty would stay.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Burke would probably look to bring in his own starting goaltender. Other than that, I think he'd stick with what was left in Chicago and not make any major deals.
miller76 463 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 When I see the threads about least favourite teams on a list or a faves on a list, Chicago usually is second on the list of least favourites just behind Anaheim. But it's almost unfair when such good rivalries that Detroit has battled with over the years constantly suck. I have never liked Chicago or Toronto, but the people/fans deserve a better showing then what they have been given. And living near Anaheim, and seeing first hand and reading local stuff, the damage that Burke has put this team in. It's identical to what he did to Vancouver. Question: Do you think that Burkes dealings, his mouth, and reputation has hurt the Ducks ability to make a good trade so they can get under the Cap? It seems as if other teams are not willing to give him/Ducks a sweet deal. Is it punishment, or just luck and bad planning on his part?

It seems as if other teams are not willing to give him/Ducks a sweet deal. Is it punishment, or just luck and bad planning on his part? Might be onto something. I know there is a certain level of like/dislike between GMs in the league. As a GM there are definately people who you are the first to call and maybe even cut a little bit of a break or at least not play hardball with. In that same spirit I'm sure their are guys like Burke who you would much rather see go down in flames and pay for his mouth if it doesn't help or hurt your organization. Brian Burke is terrible for the sport of hockey in the same way the Emery was and the same reason I'm not looking forward to Avery back in the Western conference, sideshow bulls***. The other pro leagues have it and I hate that Bettman seems to promote this "any news is good news" philosophy. Remember when you couldn't turn on ESPN without seeing either TO doing sit-ups and calling his QB ***** or Barry Bonds walking around as a laughable billboard for steroid abuse? Keep that crap out of my NHL. Edited September 20, 2008 by b.shanafan14

OR... maybe, just maybe, he can save face for such a move by bringing in the amazing Todd Bertuzzi.

OR... maybe, just maybe, he can save face for such a move by bringing in the amazing Todd Bertuzzi. Yupp, Bert has a good year with the Flames, gets hurt in the playoffs, and then Burke gets him. Signs Jason Allison, and hires Craig Berube as new head coach. Oh it's too easy with Burkie jokes.
