12Newf 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 ive got to admit that when Strombolopoulos (i swear to God if one person corrects me on this spelling attempt!!! :battle:) was on MuchMusic i hated him mostly for his holier than thou approach to punk music but he seems pretty good as an interviewer on The Hour. i purposely avoided this show like the plague and made fun of my friends for watching it but ive actually seen some pretty good interviews on there recently and im amazed at the star power he manages to get on his relatively new show. kudos George but we all know canada's best show is kenny vs spenny or trailer park boys (despite what CBC would have you believe, it is not Little Mosque on the Prairie). Just a big mouth that seems to get attention without doing anything of merit. And even tho I realize its a gimmick, it pisses me off, which I guess makes it successful. The Hour is a really good little show. The guests are interesting. George's interviews are much better than the late-night American shows and the questions for the guests aren't self-promoting fluff. If The Hour was on American TV, it would be pretty popular here... but it'd have to tone down some of the subject matter and language. No lie. Like him or not, you got to still have guys like Avery around for the entertainment value and WTF comments. Whether he'll ever learn to shut his yapper when needed sometimes remains to be seen (probably not ), but he's developed into a definite 3rd liner/2nd liner on occassion with a respectable scoring touch now.
