Detroit Dan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 We hit the post and the cross bar in the first period before Toronto's PP Goal. If one of those went in, the game would have been different. It's tough to analyze the first game. The Wings looked sloppy, but it was due to the fact we were behind and needed to take chances. Plus Toskala I thought played very well and it just wasn't our night. No worries here, 1 down, 81 to go.
robat 13 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Yeah, I mean Toronto did, and they beat us... I am on a music forum, that has an NHL thread trying to argue with stupid Devils, Oilers, and Rangers fans about Ozzie. Someone said they need make him a back up and go get a big name goalie. Whenever I try to talk about the wings it's always, you are talking about nothing relevant to what we are... I'm getting pretty pissed. At least I have LGW. Detroit Dan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Hard to believe, but the Wings were outplayed. It didn't help that Osgood gave away the first goal. We weren't sharp up and down the lineup. Toronto gave us a hard time over the weekend, but I thought it would be different with our full lineup playing. Zetterberg and Holmstrom looked good, but noone else stood out to me. Statts 4 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Bad game, sucks to be me right now. I wore my Wings jersey to school today so I'll be hearing it now. Everyone was off tonight, hoping for better on Saturday. Homer scored two goals and was a +1 and I am sure you will be glad to hear he is on my fantasy team. But seriously the Wings losing sucks. Guest Crymson Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The lines all will need some time to click. Lebda, however, played a very bad game. So did Hudler. They did not look well.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 If there's one positive, I'm happy to see that Hossa got an assist on Homer's 2nd goal.
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 I'll be dead honest, the loss doesn't bother me that much,as least we already got the first one out of the way.I just hated losing to Ron Wilson he's gonna go blow himself to sleep tonight. And another thing,I don't think another team plays more worse against the trap than the Detroit Red Wings. cirov19 1 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 That was one of the worst games I've seen the Wings play in years. Simply terrible in every facet of the game... but people are kidding themselves if they think the lost two points in this game are going to matter. By the end of the month they're already going to have a huge lead on the pack, so who honestly cares? The worst part about this isn't the loss, it's the fact that they lost to that ******* douchebag Ron Wilson and the loleafs. thank you! ******* ron wilson.... Blaayze 25 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Ugh, well this sucks.. more games to come, but still.. Ugh. I know the wings can do better, just the only thing that sucks for me is the tons of F*cking leaf fans around here. Lets get things straight for Ottawa. shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Well that was just plain sloppy. The good news is that it was one game out of eighty-two. I'm not at all worried and i can't wait to see them rebound on Saturday.

ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 basically the 2 top lines looked ok, Homer was the only one that really stood out. Hudler was pretty invisible until he was pulled off of it. Lebda played probably one of the worst I've seen him, Lilja was decent though. Sammy was looking very good out there, and so was Maltby (go figure 3 of the people everyone hates ended up having good games)Cleary and Ozzie made 2 really stupid plays and it cost us. I was thinking that maybe the fact that we split into 2 different teams could affected them, because lines aren't used to transitioning with each other. Regardless in 06-07 didn't we come out and get smoked for the first 2 months and eventually turned it around. The first few games are all about trying to get back into the rythem and tweaking lines. I'd expect a win this Sat. but I won't really hold it against them until Nov. if these problems continue.

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 I just want this "WOW TORONTO MAY BE GOOD THIS YEAR" talk to end already. They're not going to be good, but at the very least, they won't be an easy team to play against, which is more than you can say about them the last three or so years. A wise hockey man once said that you take every hockey opinion formed in October and throw them out the window on Nov. 1st.
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Anyone who thinks this one game determines what will happen for the season and playoffs is an idiot. Win or lose, I was just glad to see hockey again, Red Wings hockey. A few observations. One player who caught my eye was Flip. I like the way he is playing. Hossa is fast and quite a force out there. Just give them all a few games to get it back together and things will be fine. We have a great team, so stop the whining or go move to Columbus and then we'll see how much you can whine. Seriously, anyone who gets all depressed about this one sloppy little game is a whiny *****. Get some balls would you? For damn sake, we raised the banner tonight. Does that mean anything? Who cares about one stupid game? There you go flashing your sister's titties around the board again! I missed them too! Cheers! esteef
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The problem with todays game was that it was the first game of the season for us... Sure, same team as last year pretty much - but we have different lines, so different chemistry must be developed. Also think about Toronto... they're team is full of speedy young guys and hacks for the most part. This means that they had the entire pre-season to develop their lines since the team they started at the beginning is pretty much the team you saw tonight. We, on the other hand, had some injuries to deal with so some of our key guys didn't get as much time as they probably would have liked. A summer will develop rust for any player/team. We got the first game out of the way.... Onward and Upward!
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Just got back from the game and that was by the craziest and loudest game I have ever been to at the Joe. There were more Leafs fans in my section (226B) than Wings fans. The Canadian anthem was about 10 times louder than the US anthem and when the Leafs scored the the last five rows of the upper bowl were completely blue jerseys. It was just crazy but it was a blast despite the Wings losing the game.
