The Mule 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Jesus Christ on ice skates...relax. They werent pathetic. Yes, they were. We have without a doubt the strongest roster in the league, and we lost to a team chock full of nobodys. I don't care if it was the first game of the season, we played like s***, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 What did they have to prove? The Leafs haven't shown up for many years now. If the Wings played average tonight, we would have won easily. I guess we now know which guys parties a little too hard in the offseason. Other than Maltby and Homer, no one really played well tonight. New coach, overhaul, chance to upset the best team in the league? And Versus calls Ron Wilson a genius? WTF?

I don't care if it was the first game of the season, we played like s***, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Then panic after one game and stop watching. Ass. Yes, the Wings were a walking disaster in this game. But it's one game. Growing pains. Edited October 10, 2008 by Crymson
clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Leafs played well, swarmed the puck and what not. Ozzies give away in the first was a major brain fart and cost the game. Apparently the wings have to do more than show up. I still would take Leino and Helm over Maltby and Sammie any day.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The last time we had a banner raising ceremony, we lost 3-2 to Montreal. the curse of the banner ceremony... jinx!!

No kidding. All the bounces went the Leafs way. It happens...the Wings certainly didnt play great, but they've won many games playing that way before. GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 the curse of the banner ceremony... jinx!! Exactly. From now on, we need to stop winning Stanley Cups in order to avoid such hangovers and letdowns.

SuperNovaXll 124 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Waaaaaaaay tooooo many turn overs, waaaaaaaaay tooooo sloppy and just not a very good game. I was happy with the effort of Maltby, Homer and I thought Hossa played pretty well. Im sure we will come out stronger next time. Still going to have to avoid a few people at work tomorrow though... greenrebellion 415 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Given today's loss, its clear that it is time to write of this season and begin to look ahead. What do you guys think, do we go into rebuilding mode and trade as many veterans as we can for draft picks and young players, or do we have enough of a core to build from heading into the 2009 season? Thoughts?
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Everyone is saying Homer played great, but I was cussing at him before he scored. Guess I should made the rounds with everyone on the team.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 Then panic after one game and stop watching. Ass. Yes, the Wings were a walking disaster in this game. But it's one game. Growing pains. Don't be a ******. The Wings played like s***, which you admitted yourself, and they're going to get ragged on for it. If you think it's OK to let them off the hook for something like that, then there's a reason you aren't a coach. Yes, it's the first game of the season, but if you don't pressure them to play better, they don't change a thing, and for all we know this can happen all season long. Don't act like because it's game one it doesn't ******* matter. Two points can go a long, long way, and two points onight should have been a walk in the park, but we played like an AHL team.
