Cern 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) Granted it's a leak (note the misspelling of Lecavalier), but these are supposedly coming from a mole who works at Reebok and so far every leak he's sent out has been pretty much dead-on, so there's about a 95% chance that this is the Lightning's new jersey. Not QUITE as bad as the Haw- Thrashers' thirds, but I really, REALLY hope you liked last year's All-Star Game jerseys. I'd expect numbers to be on the front of the jersey as well given that their regular ones do. Oh, and the uselessly small 'Tampa Bay' on the ass is a nice touch too. According to rumor the Senators are doing a very similar thing for their 3rds (infuriatingly frustratingly ignoring the officially-designed 'merchandise' profile-senator logo that's been floating around). Do these franchises have an art and design department? I have some threatening letters to write, but the sheer lack of imagination is making me think it doesn't actually exist. Plus it's corroborated by the description of the jersey. I'd bet good money that for all intents and purposes, this is what the Lightning's third will be. It wasn't particularly clever or imaginative when the Stars started the trend, and it sure isn't getting any better with second, third, and fourth incarnations of the exact same thing packaged into different fonts. It's like they aren't even trying anymore. By the way, imagine that Canadiens' jerseys had big "HABS" in front. I don't know if you're referencing a vintage jersey here or what. Yeah- this matches the jersey rumoured to be the third for Tampa, and the leaker has the crediblility to back it up. Of course that misspelling doesn't help anyone. At this rate I'll be ecstatic over the unveiling of ANY jersey that isn't just some freaking wordmark cop-out. Wordmark-orientated jerseys automatically suck, this is an almost universal given. It wasn't even imaginative when Dallas got this ball rolling, much less when it's being done in the second, third, fourth incarnation of the exact same thing repackaged in slightly different fonts. One it's blue and it is the very good Alt. logo in my opinion. It's got the state in the background and doesn't have TAMPA BAY plastered on it as usual.
