Yeah. It sucks... especially against Anaheim.

The Wings, did, however, deserve to lose. Too many penalties and too much sloppy play.

So I just got home from the game. Let me say first of all, what a totally bitchen turnout of red and white tonight. great job.

Second of all, from my viewpoint 5 rows up from the goal a little off center. That my friends was NOT a goal in overtime. That was a total bulls*** call. That was slapped in no less than 4 inches if not more, above the crossbar! I effen hated the officiating tonight. They missed two bad cross ckecks tight in front of me. One was Cleary, and one was on Flip.

Too close to overturn, Toronto did it right. From what I could see, the puck was even with the crossbar, not sure what the official rule is. If it's "above the crossbar" then the right call was made. Either way, like sneps said it would have to be clear as Cleary to overturn, and it wasn't.

Regardless, too many penalties cost us this game. I've seen worse officiating. The first 5-on-3 was a Samuelsson punch to the head, a Lilja hit to the head, and Z's delay of game for puck out of play. Those are black-and-white clear penalties. That was the first Ducks goal. The second 5-on-3 was a valid hooking call on Datsyuk in the slot during a Ducks scoring chance, and a Kronwall high stick. Both calls were warranted. That was the second Ducks goal. The third goal came on a 5-on-4 man advantage after Kopecky ran over Giguere. The final regulation goal was even strength.

You should be angry that the Wings had too many penalties, but don't blame the officiating if the calls were right (and they were). These weren't weak hooking calls , these were clear infractions that should have been called. Anybody that's blaming the officials for this loss is making excuses. Most of you laughed at the Rangers fans when they complained about the too many men call, because apparently they were using the call as an excuse, but it looks like a lot of fans here are doing that same thing now.

The Wings played undisciplined, it cost them a point.

Wow. Thought I was used to the bad calls anytime the Wings play a team from Canada, but this was one of the worst called games that I have ever seen. Yeah the D played sloppy again but the refs ruled this game. Not sure how the boys in Toronto could have called that goal when it was at the least 2 inches over the crossbar. If I were Mike, I would take the fine.

What I don't get is the people saying that the Wings played a terrible game DESERVED to lose, cuz they didn't. They played bad, I saw it, you saw it, even everyone complaining about the refs saw it. But how can you just say they deserved to lose on a goal that was clearly a high stick, replay shows it and someone just posted a picture that shows it. I get it. You're mad at how lousy they've played, I am too, but why say they deserved to lose because a goal scored illegally was allowed? They didn't deserve to lose, they deserved to be tied 4-4 to Anaheim in OT.

and slow clap to the poster that said it was over by an inch but that's not conclusive enough and high-five to everyone who agreed with him. I'm pretty sure the highstick rule has a +/- error of accuracy built right in. all good points. seriously...

I want them to play like they did in the playoffs, it was an awesome ride. But they're not right now and they're still bad enough to be 7-1-2 with a possible 16 out of 20 points. Gasp, I know.

Still, that doesn't mean when a BS goal is allowed they DESERVED to lose as many critics are quick to point out.

I have yet to see a Wing's penalty that I couldn't see why was called, I didn't agree with them all but yes the Wings are doing it to themselves.

But after the 4 goals Wings scored which evened the Duck's 4 goals, you guys are right, they didn't deserve to win, just be tied.

Slept throught the game because i was on 2 hours sleep and had a ton going with school today, from what i hear im glad i slept through sounded like a frustrating game, we will bounce back tomrw against SJ because of one factor, Mike Babcock.

I dont want to see the highlight of the "ot winner" because from what i hear about the legitimacy of the goal it would be like purposely walking in on your parents having sex.

P.S my satellite went out right before the game, it was a telltale sign that it would be a game to forget

Since somebody posted a bad screenshot earlier, here's a more accurate one. The previous screenshot posted was prior to the stick making contact with the puck, when the heel of the stick was higher. Would be better if the game had been broadcast in HD.

The Wings definitely played better against the Ducks tonight than the Kings...but that was a really s***ty call. OT should have continued. If that wasn't a textbook high stick, I don't know what is.

For Christ's sake, my boy, a diehard Avs fan and hater of the Wings, even said watching, "That's a no-goal. That's a bulls*** call."

When did hockey turn into baseball, refs?

Yessir its clear as day, i dont want to work the conspiracy angle but when i see calls like this against the Wings its hard not to. The NHL has a hardon for us and we cant let it get to a situation were we can lose on bullsh!t.

Guest Four

Props to our first two lines for the offensive play last night, the three deflections were beautiful. Now we need some defense >.> The third line looked to get knocked around a little too as well as 4th being invisible.

We didn't play that bad, there were a few marginal calls but they went both ways, I think the last goal was illegal but it's way to close for them to tell without camera angle level to the crossbar. Lebda didn't seem to exist, and Stuart looke bad, but Lilja for once besides the bad deflection looked alright, so did Kronwall as he layed on the body a few times. Stuart did have on massive hit towards the end though. Samulesson looks like a skilled non-fighting version of one of the league's s***tier pests out there. Zetterberg looked incereidble out there, evertime the puck got on his stick in the o-zone he looked like a threat to score, Pavel looked good but Hossa and Homer played average games. Filpula and Kopecky looked pretty good out there controlling the puck in the ofensive zone.

I hate Pronger the most, but Getzlaf's closing in fast.

Malkin - no problem. Crosby - no problem. AO - no problem.

But when we face Getzlaf,we're usually in trouble.

Mind-boggling.

Hate the guy because of that.

Okay, I don't have time to go through the whole GDT and I missed the game last night due to a Nyquil-induced coma...but I read in the TSN comments that Pronger took a head shot at Dats last night. True or false?

I had to sufferer watching the game on an extremely slow stream. I caught the OT goal and didn't get to see the replay or anything as it kept lagging. Grrr..

Way too many penalties last night. That needs to stop..granted some of them were ridiculous.

Also, I had NO idea that Mac and May got in a fight.

this game looked a whole lot like an early season game with Anaheim last season, the penalty filled one Homer referred to as the "freak show" in terms of penalties and poor play. This time, the score was higher and the fingers are pointed in different directions in terms of blame for this loss, but this wasn't something I didn't expect from Anaheim.

He caught him with a decent little elbow to the head coming across the blue line, yeah. Nothing outrageous as far as Pronger goes though.

I guess we'll have to disagree.

The call on the ice does matter in a video review, and to me that wasn't clearly a high stick.

Not saying it wasn't. Just that it clearly wasn't. Not enough to overrule the on ice official.

Maybe it wasn't clear if you only see two dimensions & you're at a 45 degree angle looking down...

But these are humans and they see more than two dimensions. Anyone with a brain could look at anyone of those TV angles & see that, logically, his stick is above the crossbar.

I'm just worried about the fact that I almost expected them to call it a goal.
