I hate to burst your bubble, but there are plenty of *professional* athletes (as well as fans and athletes of all levels) that are very superstitious whether you (or the athletes you supposedly know) are or not. What do you think a playoff beard is all about?

Playoff beards are more tradition than superstition.

Name 'em!

Edit: Heres a piece for you to read.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m120...221/ai_19220634

Marc Savard, Wendel Clark, Eric Lindros, Adam Foote, Bryan Allen, Wayne Primeau, Michael Del Zotto, Bryan Bickell, Brett MacLean, Jason Arnott, and the list goes on. The aforementioned players (though some are now retired) are merely the ones I consider close friends. I assure you none of these players put any sort of substantial stock into any sort of superstitions. Believe what you'd like, but of all the players I know, their feelings are always the same. I highly doubt that is a coincidence.

I'm curious to know if they do or not. Maybe if you know these guys on such a personal level, you could call them and ask them.

What do I have to gain by lying? Obviously, I'm not going to sway anyone's mind on here when it comes to this topic of discussion. I just wanted to share my thoughts and my experiences with friends of mine who were lucky enough to make it to the NHL. I won't spend all day explaining how I know these people, since it's no skin off my back whether people on the internet believe my story or not, but here's a quick taste:

Adam Foote's dad has been very, very close friends with my dad for as long as I can remember. Adam owns a cottage that he stays at during the summer on the lake in the town I live in, which I have been invited to multiple times. Bryan Bickell (a Hawks' prospect playing for their AHL affiliate, in case you weren't aware) and I grew up more or less attached at the hip, and he lives less than a minute up the road from me. I developed close friendships with Arnott, Del Zotto, Primeau (and others I listed, who I already can't remember) during their time playing for the Oshawa Generals, a team I've supported since I could walk. Is that enough? I won't bore you any longer.

EDIT: Also, call them? Get real. Perhaps if I was 13 years old and needed to win an internet discussion, I might, but I've grown up. "Hey Adam, some guy on the internet doesn't believe me that you don't believe in superstitions! You still don't, right? Right?!"

Wow. That's gotta be a hockey name dropping record.

Nah, hockey players aren't superstitious at all. That's why they all can't wait to touch the Cup any chance they get, even if they've never won it before. The Campbell trophy. Wales trophy. They'll put their hands on any of them anytime.

People shouldn't ask questions if they don't want answers. Naturally, there's going to be some players in any sport that are superstitious, and obviously the media will focus more upon the ones who are rather than the ones who aren't. I mean, would you rather read articles about players who aren't superstitious? What's so interesting about that?

Oh, and you kinda sounded like you wanted to be asked...

I know several athletes on a very personal level, and none of them have ever paid the slightest bit of attention to superstitions, and yes, a good number of said athletes are professional hockey players. I won't name names unless you ask me to, because I'm not one for name drops, but the whole superstition and sports connection has been blown so far out of proportion it is unbelievable.

Friendly Piece of Advice: That word is a no-no on Gameday until it comes to fruition or proves to be untrue.

Lol.. I really don't think we have anything to lose by saying shut-out...

Not saying it, on the other hand, hasn't been working...

Frankly, I agree with the Mule..

And I think the Wings have too much experience to just die out because of last night. They should be pissed because last night was BS.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but there was an optional skate this morning. Meech and Conklin skated with only one player who started yesterday: Jiri Hudler.

I think that's a good sign that he's invested and working hard. He wants it, and he wants his coach to know it.
