Sure, we won't be as good on paper, but GR is playing better hockey than we are right now. Seriously, bench a few of our veterans to put the fear of God into the rest of them. Make some examples. Lebda, Sammy, Maltby, and Kopecky they all need to go for a game. Bring up Ericcson, Abdelkader, Helm, and Leino. Give them some experience and give this team a jump start. Betman hates us...he gives us the most back to back games of any other team in the league, and then "rewards" us with a week off so we can get rusty. Gotta love it. Cause I think I remember one.....thats it. Carolina and Atlanta were both technically two-goal games, but we had empty netters in both. Until tonight, every one of our games had been a one-goal game or tied headed into the final minute. I mean, I guess that could still happen. But...yeah. Thats why Holland needs to do the right thing and trade Lebda. Seriously, thats one guy you can trade and be sure that his absence won't come back to haunt us. The fact is, they should not be playing this consistently bad. We may the same mistakes. It's clear they need to work on certain aspects of their game, and mixing up the lineup would do wonders. Thats what I don't understand - so far the only guys Babs has "sent a message to" are Hudler and Maltby. Hudler gets demoted and Maltby gets scrtached, yet neither of those players are even close to being a big problem for us. If anything, they've both been pleasant surprises. Other teams smartly won't take him...they'd rather the Wings keep him and they reap the benefits when they play the Wings. Since Lebda won't score any goals for them, they know he'll be more valuable for them if he stays with the Wings and improves on his golf score of a +/- when they play against them. Its not a huge improvement but if the team wants to carry a fighter can they atleast carry the one who can fight and actually can still play at a high level and grind? If we keep playing the way we have been I would like to see the team send McCarty down and bring Downey up. We have Meech in Detroit we should give him a chance in the place of somone else. It would be great if we sat someone for a few games and found a way to bring up someone else from Grand Rapids in addition to sending McCarty down. I don't want to see the team trade anyone but these guys really need a wake up call.We need to shake things up somehow, these guys have to realize that there are players in Grand Rapids that have been working their tails off and are ready to come in and steal spots if these guys can't get their acts together. The pass is a good three feet from his stick, he stands still, fumbles with it trying to control it, and by the time he does the Sharks forward has got him covered, checked, and the puck is taken away.
