No, but Datsyuk's fanning on the clearing pass from the defensive zone caused the Penguins to keep the puck in the zone, and a few seconds later it's in the net.

The penalty call was marginal, but we escaped a LONG 5 on 3 with only one goal against. Then the rare Datsyuk mistake lead to the 2nd goal.

Who said I was talking about the Datsyuk mistake? This thread never ceases to amaze me in its need for micromanaging... I was talking about the 5 on 3. I acknowledged the refs. How does talking about the refs have ANYTHING to do with Datsyuks mistake?

yeah. the Wings had already been fighting a long time in their zone and needed a change, it seems like whenever someone blows an easy clear like that, it ends up in the net.

Yeah...

Well, focusing on things the Wings CAN'T control, i.e. the refs, does no good.

Focusing on things the Wings CAN control, such as clearing the zone correctly, that's better.

And, in the case of a game that was 5-2, then 5-3, then 5-4, the goal that brings it to within one is a bigger goal than the goal that brought it to within 2. Why not focus on something that we could have done MUCH better, than focusing on the Refs?
