I can say one thing for sure.. I have a friend that works with the Wings directly; head chef. He's first to tell the me that the Stars on the Wings miss having Downey on the bench. He was great in the locker room and Downs verbally told players they get hurt, the opponent will pay.

After the Laperriere hit on Lidstrom last year, they said that brought the team closer than ever when Downey crushed Ian afterwords.

Well that settles it.

Downey is the reason we have had such a terrible first quarter. He is the missing piece!

It's unfortunate for Lilja, it's an unfair spot for him to be put in. He cannot fight, he knows this, but he's the biggest guy on the team and feels obligated. Wrong of Holland and Babcock.

I think it's more a case of him doing what it takes to earn a spot on this roster. He blocks shots. He's good on the PK. And I'm sure it's been made clear he shouldn't be afraid to stick up for his teammates out there.

I'm a little surprised he hasn't gotten any better at it. He needs to spend some quality time with Downey or something. Or hire Joey Kocur as a special consultant.

Yeah, shame on Holland and Babcock to have a guy fight who can hold his own against the big guys.

HOW DARE THEY

When has Lilja ever won a fight against a heavy? The answer is Never. Wake up doc.

P.s. read what they're saying about your posts on hockeyfights.com/forums doc... ;)

I can see that. Downey is a true team player who seems to know his role on the team and is willing to take any one down that tries to mess with one of his teammates. I wish he was still on the roster. Hope that they call him up sooner then later.

I like your posts Hardold, totally agree.. Lilja has the ability to be much tougher I think, but he needs some serious training. HE leaves himself way too open and punches with his arms and not his body.

Hold his own doesn't mean win.

He is a big boy and he can take care of himself. And I don't care what you "fight or bust" douchebags at hockeyfights say about me.

If you want to act like a tough guy, say it here.

LOL... You're funny. You buy into the "Powerplay is our enforcer" b.s. huh? Sad sad man.

It's 1-1 against an inferior team last I checked, seems the Jackets have it figured out just fine... Sad boy.

You ok Sally? You seem pretty "sad" over there. What's it like to be an old man with nothing in his life except a message board? Aside from the hit post by Zetterberg and a couple other foiled opportunities on our part, the game could very well be 2-1, or 3-1 in favor of the Wings. I've been satisfied by this game, we have been the better team all game, as long as we play a full 60 minutes we'll be fine. Cheer up grumpy, you'll get your prune juice in time and I promise to get those pesky kids off your lawn if you promise to quit being so senile.

Lol... ok... I'm about 30 years old; gotta get going on the kids, so they can have grandkids I guess.

Anyways, taking away personal attacks such as these miniscule arguments, tell me one reason it's not benneficial to have Downey up. 1 VALID reason.

I have a prediction, it's simple.

If Columbus keeps up the physical game which they've been lacking the 2nd period, then they win the game.

They play a euro-esque style game, they lose.

I predict Colubus wins 3-2, unfortunately.
