MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 Just heard on FAN 590 that Joe Sakic underwent emergency surgery to repair his hand after an accident involving a snowblower yesterday. He's out for three months after successful surgery to repair three broken fingers and tendons in his hand.
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 This was certainly not the year he wanted to have. I feel bad for the guy, if there was a guy who should go out on his own terms, it would be him. You figure a guy with his kinda coin could hire that out. Especially after undergoing back surgery?

StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 In other news, Roberto Luongo suffered a setback this week when he stuck his tongue in a toaster. He will be out for 2-3 additional weeks with what the team is calling an "upper body injury."

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 He's been cursed ever since he overtook Steve Yzerman on the all-time playoff points list. Maybe the hockey gods are trying to prevent him from passing Stevie on any more of the scoring records.
daft_davy 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 It doesn't say anything about Joe sticking his hand into the snowblower. I don't think he would be so stupid. If that had happened, wouldn't his fingers have been severed rather than simply broken?
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 well, that is a shame. I guess he will have to hire a kid to clear his driveway, now, won't he? Sounds very painful, for sure, and could have been even worse, from the sound of things. Get better soon, Joe.
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 It doesn't say anything about Joe sticking his hand into the snowblower. I don't think he would be so stupid. If that had happened, wouldn't his fingers have been severed rather than simply broken? A. I made the comment about sticking his hand in the snow blower in jest. B. That is the only way I see this happening unless it fell and he was trying to keep it upright and it smashed his hand, but I doubt that breaks three fingers and does tendon damage. It sounds more likely that he tried to free up a rock or ice chunk and his hand got caught in the tumbler. BUT JUST MY SPECULATION! C. Still a dumb injury in my book, listen I dislocated my shoulder walking down a flight of icy stairs to let a dog out, that was stupid injury, mangling your hand in a snowblower related injury, STUPID. I know accidents happen, but he put his livelihood in his hands, if he is that inept at using a snowblower he should have hired a neighborhood kid, especially if he is out with back problems. sjradio 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 A snowblower??? Isn't a snowblower what they call an Avalanche groupie??? Try the veal, I'll be here all week, tip your waitress.... Seriously The Avs might not even have to pay his salary while he's out, this was a non-hockey related injury.

up2here 41 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 (edited) I read the story on TSN before this and they make no mention of the snowblower incident, I was curious to how it happened. In a related note when they asked Sakic what happened to the snowblower he cursiously replied " I bit her fingers right back!" GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 10, 2008 I know several of you won't like me saying this, but this is downright hilarious. Their team has blown all year, so what does the captain do.... he gets injured by a snowblower. That's O.K. divelanche fans, you can always hope that Forsberg will come back for one more playoff round. What are the chances that he ever gets injured this way? And yes, I'm the kind of Wings fan that laughs when a divealanche or Blues player gets injured, so if you don't like it, tough luck.
