Ever heard of balance? Leverage? You can actually knock a guy down on his butt even when you miss 95% of your hit. All you have to do is catch a piece of a guy. Has alot to do with whether the guy sees you or not, the position your body is in, leverage, balance, momentum.

Hits don't have to be "hard" per say to knock somebody down. You'd know this from experience playing the game I would think.

Ok who cares if he is the best or not, he's had some damn fine ones and id rather people get excited rather then appauled when they see hits. If you don't like them go find another sport to watch.

This thread needs more videos and less bickering. I dove into this thread thinking that based on the fist page its going to kick ass, boy I was wrong.

This is a hard judgment call to make based on the inherent bias of the judging criteria, much like fights, though with less a clear cut winner. Granted I feel Stuart's stepped up his hits from what was a good effort last year into something great this year. That alone should be commended and I feel he's the best hitter for the Wings so far, not the best in the league. However, I do have him winning hit of the year based on my subjective reasoning as a Wings fan, as well as him destroying Tanguay with nothing to absorb the impact.

This sounds like a good show for Sports Science. Anyone ever see Sports Science? They can prove who hits harder. I saw the show on hockey hits and open ice hits are by far harder then anything against the boards. In an open ice hit the energy transferred in the exchanged is absorbed mainly by the person receiving the hit where as in hits against the boards the energy is absorbed mostly by the boards. Very cool show if you ever get a chance to see it.

Yeah, that was a good one, is that show even on anymore? I think they originally only had like 5 episodes, they were all cool tho.
