Stuart lays down some good hits, but he is not the best on the team nor the best in the league. Only Red Wing in the last 15 years to even be considered the best hitter in the league was Vladimir Konstantinov.

Now, if you are going to start comparing Stuart to Vladdy to homosexuals and ******'s, then it's all you buddy.

They are not smart ass comments, they are politically correct. And as for this year, Milan Lucic has had some great hits, far better than any Red Wing.

Just because some puss like Tanguay didn't come back into the game doesn't mean Stuart hits harder or better than anyone else. Kariya came back after Stevens leveled him, and I'm quite sure that must have been a hard hit.

Plenty, the two hardest looking hits of the year were form stuart and davidson and they both knocked players out of the game.

Please remember Kopecky sent a guy thorugh the glass. Kids in there teens have sent others through glass, i think yes it has to be a hard hit but sometimes there is a tiny blemish in the glass that causes it. I will agree wiht your rationale though i think its one of the top 3 hits this year hands down, i think its a toss up between the glass break and Davidson and Stuart's massive hits. Ok, i got upset but certian people fueled it then used my anger to make tasteless comments.

I was watching Vs. Tue or Mon night, and they showed highlights of a game - I cant remember the teams, maybe one of them were the Sennators.

They showed highlights of a deadly (legal) hit. Best hit I've seen all season. Anyone remember who that was?

Then a few fights broke out and players started making illegal hits. But the first legal one, that started the whole mess was fantastic!

This sounds like a good show for Sports Science. Anyone ever see Sports Science? They can prove who hits harder. I saw the show on hockey hits and open ice hits are by far harder then anything against the boards. In an open ice hit the energy transferred in the exchanged is absorbed mainly by the person receiving the hit where as in hits against the boards the energy is absorbed mostly by the boards. Very cool show if you ever get a chance to see it.

This is a ridiculous thread. Brad Stuart's a really solid hitter but he's never been the best hitter in the league at any point in his career, including this one.

Unless you have watched every single hockey game this year and have the data for every worthwhile hit that's been thrown, your video is nothing but a teeny, weeny, miniscule sample of big hits this season.

Dusting Brown routinely steamrolls over people. But not every one of his hits makes the highlights even though they might be some of the hardest hits in a given night. You're basing this whole thing off the fact that Stuart has more "highlight" hits in this particular highlight reel.

For example, player A has thrown 100 big hits this year but maybe 4 of them are "highlight" hits. And let's say player B has thrown 10 hits this year but 5 of his have been highlight hits. By your reasoning player B would be the best hitter in the league even though he hits only 10% of the amount of people than player A.

For my money, Phaneuf is still the "best" pure hitter in the league right now among dmen. I would say Dustin Brown and Brendan Morrow are high up on the list of forwards.

Ever heard of balance? Leverage? You can actually knock a guy down on his butt even when you miss 95% of your hit. All you have to do is catch a piece of a guy. Has alot to do with whether the guy sees you or not, the position your body is in, leverage, balance, momentum.

Hits don't have to be "hard" per say to knock somebody down. You'd know this from experience playing the game I would think.
