Jwo 7 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) This is why Football can’t be taken as a serious sport; the teams walk off the field with 30-40 seconds left on the clock. They should be forced to play till 0:00 is on the clock. A Fumble, Interception or even a Spectacular Touchdown from the offensive team could happen. The Fans are robbed of this exciting ending of a game. Imagine if Soccer players walked off the field before the game ended. Today's game with Liverpool would have never won 2-0 and the home crowd would have never seen Torres score two goals that won the game for Liverpool. The first half ended with the most fantastic interception return I've ever seen, and the second half ended with one kneel down and 5 secs left on the fumble. That was an unbelievable game. Riveting to the final second, literally. The Fitzgerald TD and then the Holmes catch were amazing. Behind Alabama-Florida this has got to be the best football game of the year. Maybe they have changed it because the games that I have tried to watch over the years, the players would just walk off the field in the fourth Quarter with lots of time left on the clock to play. Yes, some times that happens. If the winning team has the ball and kneels on it, time will expire, there's no reason to keep the teams from coming onto the field then. I think that's an incredibly specific and insignificant gripe you've got there.

At least in football you know when the game is going to end. Stoppage time in soccer is completely up to the whim of the refs and then after that they add random amounts of stoppage time to the stoppage time and nobody knows when the hell this thing ends. Besides, the game you're talking about was a close game. If Liverpool was already up 2-0, there's no way they'd be attacking to score in the final minute, same way a football team with a lead sits on it.
timothy1997 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 what an unbelievable game! I think that super bowl has to go down as one of the best ever, if not the best. Exciting play from both teams. Incrediable play to end the first half and just when you think the Cards were left for dead, they strom back and found a way to get the ball to Fitzgerald. Fitz takes it to the house and normally its plays like that that seals the deal. But again Ben showed us why he is a leader and rallies the team to march down the field to win the game in the final minute. Still, Warner had 35 secs and 2 timeouts with plenty of chances to take it down the field again. Definately lot closer than i thought it would be but glad. that 4th quarter goes down as one of the best roller coaster finishes ever in a football game. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 It wasn't that long ago that a lot of writers were complaining that the Super Bowl hadn't really produced much drama lately. Now we've had two excellent games in a row. I wish the Cards had pulled it out but I have nothing against the Steelers.
gowingsgo 3 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 Pretty frantic finish. Got a big smile on my face. The Steelers left the door open by not finishing drives and AZ almost made them pay, they just left a little too much time for Big Ben on the clock.
