VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I think the Sharks will be more desperate in this one because I think they need it a bit more. I expect that, plus home ice, to be the difference in the game. Hopefully, I'm wrong and the Wings play their asses off. Should be a good test for Ozzie, regardless. The Sharks, because of that, will be more likely to lose their cool faster, yes? Therefore, if the Wings get out to a lead, it may be hard for the Sharks to catch up. On the flip-side, the Wings could come from behind much easier than the Sharks would, I would imagine. So I think their hunger and our experience basically cancels each other out. Add into the equation that the Wings step up huge for crucial games, and I think at this point th eedge goes slightly towards the Wings. Anyone else feel free to continue to equation I've started to build.
Zion 93 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Did you also call Hudler a joke last season? You can't call someone a joke because better players are playing better. I agree, MM can be awesome at times but inconsistency comes with the package for a 24 year old. Your criticisms are far too premature. Now let's take a look at your comparisons. Not to take anything away from Setoguchi, his production has been great, but he sits on a line with Marleau and Thornton. Michalek is with Pavelski and Clowe most games. The production for all three on the second line is very similar except for Clowe who is slightly ahead. He has sort of become a bit of a PP specialist for the Sharks though, which explains his increased production compared to his linemates. So you are grouping 4 good players who have all had very similar seasons. Yet you're calling one a joke and the others are lapping him. It makes no sense to me. Either you do NOT watch the Sharks much or you're a real slow learner. Education can be difficult with special kids. Yeah, and guess who else played on the top line with Thornton? Cheechoo, who now (since he isn't a 50-goal scorer anymore, yes, I know: he's been injured) plays on the THIRD line. Michalek SHOULD produce playing with Clowe and Pavelski: they're TERRIFIC hockey players!!! I'll admit (courtesy of my wife) that calling him a joke may be a bit harsh, but I'm harsh on Cheechoo because I know how well both of these players can play. Fact is, he shows a little too much Yashin in him for my taste, as of late. And as for Hudlum, I'll always ***** about him being too small, too slow and too lazy in the defensive zone... until I hear him actually cluck.

No, your equation is pretty good, with one exception: this is their 3rd game in 4 nights (and I can't remember if they had an extra day off after Dallas), and I hate that these two teams couldn't have met on the first leg of this Pacific Division swing. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) During the Caps/Bs game on CSN a few minutes ago, they just claimed that tonight's Wings/Sharks game will be the highest combined win percentage (.787) after 40 games *in league history*. That doesn't make the game any more significant, but it's still kinda cool. Edited January 18, 2009 by Third Man In

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 http://atdhe.net/live-tv-2.php?i=654 I don't think the link changes either, so you can bookmark it. The link does change from game to game, so bookmarking it would be of no use. He/She would need to keep checking that site every time there's a game to get the new streaming feed link. Which is no hassle, really. I'm happy I don't have to work tomorrow, I can stay up to watch the game. Wings win, BTW.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 The Caps beat the Bruins 2-1, in a great game. Hopefully the Sharks and Wings put on just as great a show.

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) The Caps beat the Bruins 2-1, in a great game. Hopefully the Sharks and Wings put on just as great a show. There is another great game on CBC, Montreal in Ottawa. Tied with a minute left. It looks like the Habs are home. It is ridiculous how many of their fans are there. Edit: in OT now. Broken 16 381 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Duh the game starts in 1hrs15min, online coverage starts seconds before puck drops and end seconds after game is over. Who starts a sentence with "Duh" aside from a twelve year old? Lol... how lame. This game means a lot more to the Sharks than the Wings. I expect a much larger sense of urgency within the Sharks group. 5-4, Sharks win in a shootout.

SFwingsfan 23 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I haven't been this excited for a regular season game all year and that includes the two previous games against the Sharks, let's go get 'em boys!

I expect a much larger sense of urgency within the Sharks group. 5-4, Sharks win in a shootout. I don't see how this game would mean more to the Sharks than the Wings, both teams are gonna come out firing, but the Sharks are due for some more bad luck at home. Ozzy has to be on the top of his game though. Wings win 4-
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I don't see how this game would mean more to the Sharks than the Wings I think it's a fair assessment. When the Wings have played a "measuring stick" game, they've made some big statements recently. It hasn't been that way for the Sharks. I think it's a bigger game for San Jose. SFwingsfan 23 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Geez, the Montreal contingency in Ottawa even makes some of our most Wing fan filled away games (Phoenix, Chicago, etc) look small. That can't be too much fun for the home team, espcially the way the Sens have been playing lately.
Pasha13 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I say Barbarian Hossa goes ballistic tonight...2 goals and an assist...Wings win 5-3. Or maybe...they don't. We'll see.
