Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I like the selection of songs at the Joe. It's classy to hear stuff you know, but don't normally listen to. I enjoy that most songs have something to do with whats going on on the ice. You can tell the DJ is thinking and not just playing what's currently in the top 40. egroen 384 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I think the Joe could use more organ, honestly. Anyways, I checked my computer at home and all I have are some clips from the first Cup in 97 -- the Cup presentation and the Kid Rock intro (Ain't no party like a Detroit party...). Zion 93 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Hey, LeftWinger... did you know that Detroit is (or was) known as the Motor City? Did you know that Detroit is the original home of Motown records? Did you know that the Detroit Red Wings are an original 6 team with a (recent) tradition of winning? What am I getting at here? How about tradition? I personally love "Hey, Hey Hockeytown" as a goal song, and the organ and pump-up music played. I don't care for the situational music played, but I'll take the good with the bad. I love that the goal horn hasn't changed since 1995 (along with the center ice logo). And I love oldies. Yes, it's 2009, and I can't think of a better length of time (the last few years) to NOT play music from. I hate the techno s*** that gets played during the warm-up skate, and am very glad that isn't played throughout the game.
Uniblab 12 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 I don't have a problem when sporting events still play Rock and Roll Part 2, it is still just a song despite what Garry did. Billy Joel has a past of sick behaviour and his music is still heard, i.e. the 1-2-3-4 that's played when the Wings go up 4-0. Gary Glitter still makes a fortune off that song! He served four months in a British prison for possession of huge amounts of child pornography of the worst sort. It involved the torture of very young children (as young as age two). After serving his sentence, he moved to Cambodia, a well-known haven for pedophiles (there are special tourist agencies all over the world that arrange pedoplile "vacations" to that part of the world). He lived like a king there, being richer than Croesus from living off the royalties from all the sports arenas playing, "Rock and Roll, Part 2". Then he was deported from Cambodia. It seems he was temporarily jailed for performing particularly sadistic crimes against children, and Cambodia chose to quickly deport him rather than raise awareness of their tolerance of crimes against children. He was then living like a king in Bangkok, Thailand, the world's most notorious haven for pedophiles. He was finally jailed in 2007 for his crimes. He had a harem of girls as young as ten. He was released and has now returned to Britain. Yet in spite of all this, arenas still play his song, and he still collects his royalties, laughing all the way to the bank. Guest Murph Report post Posted January 21, 2009 For my Intro I have simply, "Hey, Hey Hockeytown!" It fits pretty well. "Enter the Machine" by Arch Enemy is a good choice as well. Nashville actually used that last year during the playoffs, to my suprise. Power Play- Imperial March from Star Wars. Especially effective when the announcer refers to the Wings PP as "The most feared in the game".

Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 There are so many good songs with Detroit themes that I have no idea why I have never heard them.... Perfect example... Put Your Hands Up for Detroit - Fedde Le Grand Maybe the lyrics don't make sense........ oh wait..... Put your hands up for Detroit.... I love this city
Yzersyukstromberg 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) I'm OK with the 'tradition' part of it...but like I said, I make it out to every single game...and I can say one thing for sure. It's very predictable, and not very exciting. It seems like they hold back all of their flashy video graphics, organ music and 'pump up the crowd' type music until playoff time. I remember, even a few years ago, you'd have the 'Let's go Red Wings' organ playing constantly. I don't think I've heard it once this year. I have no problems with tradition, or honoring Detroit's motown heritage, but like has been said above.....be creative, not repetitive. I could close my eyes at the Wings game, and tell you exactly what's going on based on the song being played. That gets old. As for the new PA announcer....I agree, he sucks. Monotone, and just plain boring. There's no arguing the fact the Budd Lynch is old, senile and is losing it....but if we're going to diminish his role, shouldn't his successor be an upgrade??? I will say this....I still love Budd for calling Cindy by the name Steven Crosby at the opening puck drop of the '08 Finals. Best mistake the guy ever made. The Wings made a great new opening video that's played before the players take the ice for the first period, but another problem at the Joe....they're scared to pump up the volume. I love attending games at the Joe, because I'm there for the hockey being played, not the entertainment, but I can completely understand how some others might be turned off because of the 'boring' atmosphere. Our fans, for the most part, truly don't get into it. I think that mainly stems from the corporate types in the lower bowl, because I know myself and most of the 'true' fans in the upper bowl are loud and proud. HadThomasVokounOnFortSt 878 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 I was wondering a couple things on this. One- How much memory would this take up? Like I got a memory card that has 256MB and the one memory that goes on top of your 360 (not sure what you call that). Two- Like say I want to use this arena music for NHL 09. Is there a way I could use it for when NHL 10 comes out? Three- I am guessing it's only when you use the Play Now section, or can you use it for online? Corporations own tickets in every lower bowl in every NHL/NBA arena or MLB/NFL stadium. No, I never have been to a game in Toronto, sorry. And, yes I do understand how the economics of major sports work....obviously there will always be a large showing of corporate types at sporting events...but one can't deny that our corporates are less than enthusiastic. Even though I thoroughly hate Toronto hockey fans, there is no comparison between the way Canadian hockey fans (and I'm a Canadian Wings fan saying this) and American hockey fans follow and cheer their teams. Each and every Canadian NHL arena is a madhouse on every game night...regardless of their team's standing in the league....while many American clubs have to be successful for some time before they can enjoy that type of support....in the Wings' case, it almost seems as if our success has become commonplace, and our fans save themselves for the playoffs. That's just my opinion though....... ***Well, I just realized that you live in Canada as well....so you must completely understand how hockey here is like religion...and that's (in my opinion at least) why Toronto enjoys such rowdy crowds despite their horrific record. The feature works like this, no matter what mode of play you are playiing in. Once you rip/download the music to your xbox, you must create a playlist with certain songs. A good idea is to make a separate playlist for each song to be sure that your song is played for the desired situation. Then once these playlists have been created, you can now access the Custom Audio feature via the Media Hub in the main menu (You cant access it unless you have playlists created on your xbox). From there its pretty simple. You just have to select the team you wish to create custom audio for, or all teams, or all league etc. Thats pretty much it

Sorry I missed a couple of things on your post. As for the memory issue, you can use a USB jump drive to put the music onto your xbox, but after that it will take up memory on your hard drive. As to how much memory, I have no idea, I guess it would depend on how big the songs are, but it shouldnt be an issue. And when NHL 10 comes out, as long as they still have the custom audio feature, , you can still use it, because the music/playlists are coming from your xbox, not the NHL 09 game. Toronto is known for quiet hockey fans, and a huge corporate presence at all their games. I've been to a few games and hockey is secondary to all the marketing that goes on there. A lot of times TV doesn't do an arena justice, or it makes it sound louder than it actually is based on where the cameras and microphones are placed for the broadcasts.
