Yet no one has said anything about Conklin being great. The most anyone has said is that he was solid - he didn't make big mistakes, didn't do anything special either. Essentially, theres no story on Conklin tonight. Theres no need to even bring up goaltending at all unless we're talking about how we lit Ellis up.

And if you'll look at my previous posts, I have said that the attitude was to ignore blatant mistakes if made by Conklin, and ignore anything amazing done by Osgood. Your post doesn't contradict that. It just suggests that the thread didn't feel Conklin was "outstanding", just "good" and that Conklin was okay.

Both myself and Electrophile were more talking about the fact that people even very early in the thread had started with Osgood bashing ("that would have gone in and it would be 1-1 had Osgood been in net"), and were pointing out that Osgood gets bashed while Conklin plays, or Conklin can make the same mistake Osgood does and not get bashed for it.

I missed the two goals against us, came in just as Mule scored #4 for the Wings. What I saw was very good defense, lots of blocked shots (including one that got Lilja, but good - hope he's OK), and Conks in position, doing what was needed to keep the puck out.

Good over all team effort, the part of the game I was able to watch.

Amazingly, no breakaways.

One mindfart in the form of a bad change, and one shot through a screen, but it was all good. Not many scoring chances to speak of. Conks did what he had to do.

Great night. It's nice to see the Wings shellac a team like they used to. And maaad props to Hossa for droppin' the mitts. You won't see that every day.

I love how Hossa stood up for himself. I think it's a sign of things to come.

Well, I plan on reading everyones after game thoughts, but before I do I'll state mine. Our team looked great tonight, glad the Mule is back he looked hungry today. Conklin played as good as we need to win, Hossa is a complete BA and hope he stays, same with Hudler; no bitching just gets up and goes on a breakaway. Helm just can't be stopped he is 100% all the time, and there is no way Leino doesn't deserve to be on this team.

Lastly I think Kopecky and Flip read LGWs. Because Kopecky shows what he can do with some life on his line, I think he has really shown up the last few games and am hoping he is improving, maybe his leg is coming back full strength (nice little hit off the puck on Weber). Flip was playing very hungry and was setting Hossa up for some great shots, and his back checking tonight was very stand out. Great game all around.

I'm reading these like three hours later, so somebody probably already mentioned that one of the linesman got a broken finger earlier in the game and did not ref. I thought they were pretty nice to us though, ya know?
