Nashville would not beat the Sharks in a 7 game series....

Probably not. Possible, but not probable. But, anything can happen in the playoffs. Is there any reason to believe anyone will beat the Sharks in a seven game series?

Frankly my dear,I don't give a damn.

Don't call me Frank, but surely I feel the same way. No team out there scares me.

Flames = They'll try to hit us and intimidate us but we'll put them away in five games, no big deal

Vancouver = All they have is goaltending, no big deal

San Jose = Thornton is the only player that scares me on that team and ZD very easily shut him down

Ducks = Really? Not a problem at all

Columbus = Shut down Nash and they'll be cake

Avs = Couple lucky wins in SO against us this year, 5v5 they are no match

Wild = Sweep

Nashville = Sweep

Blues = Sweep

Kings = Young and spunky, but no match at all

Dallas = Our ***** along with Turco, no problems there.

Yotes' = Sweep

Hawks = Young and fun but their horrendous PK will be at the mercy of our near 30% PP

Edmonton = Sweep

Can't really say any of the teams really either at the ass end of the playoff race or right on the edge of making the playoffs really scare me. I would slightly be concerned about Dallas because of how the Wings have performed this season against them. Colorado hasn't played decent enough since the start of the year to make me believe they will make the playoffs unless they go on some outstanding streak. They've been sinking fast.

The thing is though, Columbus is the only team in the NHL to have NEVER made the playoffs. I would love to face a team with zero playoff experience in the first round.

Or I also wouldn't mind playing Nashville again if they find a way to make it.

If we were to play Columbus and lose, I would go into permanent isolation.

Uh, I admire your positivity, but that's a bit over the top. Thornton's the only guy on San Jose who scares you? Really?

I've watched way too many playoff seasons to make definitive statements like that. I think we've got a good shot at repeating, but any team could surprise us if they get the breaks and we don't bury our chances.

I want to avoid playing.

1- Anaheim

2- Calgary

3- Vancouver

Well then I have some good news for you. Calgary is going to finish 3rd in the west because they will win the northwest division. They currently have an 8 point lead and it's unlikely that they will blow an 8 point lead with only 24 games to go. They have played the same number of games as Edmonton so Calgary is out. They will play the #6 team in the first round.

Aneheim is not likely to make the playoffs. At least 90 points are required to make the playoffs (historically). Aneheim has 61 points and have 22 games left. To get to 90 points, they need to get 29 points in 22 games. This would require a record of 15-7 over the last 22. Based on the way they are playing and the tough road trip that they have coming up, that's just not going to happen.

Most likely we get Vacouver, Columbus, Dallas or Edmonton.

So Marleau can score on the leagues worse goalie?

But yeah, trying to predict the playoffs is a very hard thing to do, but I'm not looking forward to facing San Jose, or Calgary for some reason I just don't feel 100% confident vs. them.

Chicago.

So far we've handled them pretty well, & it's these young energetic teams that seem to give us a hard time in the playoffs...Chances of us meeting them in the 1st round is slim so realistically I guess I'd say Anaheim.

Aneheim is not going to make the playoffs and Chicago will finish 4th so both of those are out

Vancouver at the moment is the team I'd really rather not face, seems they've always played us well through out the years and their potential to shut down offenses will make our biggest question mark in goal tending even more crucial since we'll be seeing close games.

I hope we could somehow face off against Nashville, though them making the playoffs is a reach so I'll pick Minnesota. No matter what however I would absolutely love to see Chicago in rounds two or even the finals, but I can't help but feel we'll need to knock of San Jose at some point no matter what if we want to keep our SCF hopes alive.

Lastly, it seems our dominance over Dallas is switching up a bit this year and I'd almost feel concerned matching up against them at any point, more so than ever in recent history.

Yes, the last 4 years in a row when nobody including Detroit was supposed to beat the Sharks.

vancouver, calgary, anaheim all have goalies who can steal a series. dont really want to go up against them 1st round. i'd take chicago. and mason is an unknown at this point. he may crack, or he may keep being a brick wall. i;d rather not be the first team to find out.

Edmonton.

A s***ty, lousy team that always overachieves in the playoffs after embarrassing themselves in the reg. season. They don't deserve to be in the playoffs and if they make it - they will ruin a nice run by a team like the Wings or San Jose.

2006 was the only season they overachieved in the playoffs. They usually don't make it at all, or they get eliminated by Dallas.

I figured that being from Edmonton, you would know better. :D

Neither would Dallas last year or Detroit the year before....

i know argument is that "this year" has been "the year" for the sharks several years in a row now...not i'm not willing to dismiss them based on past experience. they have a much better coach this year and a better blueline. both great for playoff runs.

anyway, i'd probably most like to meet up with edmonton or dallas. really, anybody out of the top four or five western teams don't really scare me, although i don't think a series against anyone will be easy.

i'd like san jose to meet columbus in the first round. cls has played them tough this year, especially later in the year. that would be a good series, i think. honestly, columbus is probably the team i'd least like to meet given that nash always KILLS us and, as others have noted, we have a tendency of making hot goalies red ******* hot.

Well thanks. Thornton is the only player that scares me on that team, he is the only one who could take over the game.Great supporting cast, but I don't think they could handle us in a 7 game series where our best players step up their games while theirs....don't.

He's put up over 60 points thrice and is a sub 1.0 PPG player in the playoffs. And doesn't Patty play with Joe? You shut down the person who churns the milk on that line, you stop the butter.

Jordan fades back, he shoots and scores....that's the game!

Times change, brah. Take a look at the NHL stats today.

and is a sub 1.0 PPG player in the playoffs.

Since when did this pass as valid criticism? So are Steve Yzerman and Sergei Fedorov, as long as we're on that topic.

Maybe if he was a no talent scrub of a winger waiting on Thornton to feed him.

Anyways, my point was they have a lot of not-terrible players outside of big Joe.

Never said they didn't. In factm i said they have a great cast. Mr. T is the only one I worry about.

The sub 1PPG playoff thing was in reference he is in his prime and and chokes in the playoffs along with Mr. T. When Yzerman and Feds were in their primes they were putting up over a PPG in the playoffs.

But I still stand by my claim that there is no team that makes me think we would lose to them in a seven game series. When the Wings want to play, we shut teams out and put up lots of goals, like from this game :Link

Poor use of sarcasm, I suppose. You can brush him off if you want, but he's good enough to do it on his own.

Only the very elite players in the NHL average over PPG in the postseason, and most not by very much. Say what you mean to say if you think he chokes, but basing it off PPG is weak.

The way Dallas is playing right now, they're a very dangerous team...amazing considering they're without richards and haven't had Morrow who is an absolute beast. I heard today that Morrow could be back for the playoffs. They're the last team I want to see the Sharks play in the 1st round. If the Sharks and Wings are to meet for an epic WCF, they'll have a couple of big hurdles which will be no joke.

Columbus, Columbus, Columbus. The "they've never made the playoffs" excuse is bull. The franchise hasn't made the playoffs, but they have players who have - Peca, Modin, Huselius, Commodore, Umberger, Williams, Tyutin, Torres, Gratton, and Malhotra all have, in fact. The fact that they're going to be heading into the playoffs with a great coach, a great system, a good young goaltender, and the adrenaline from being the first team in their franchise's history to make the playoffs has the makings of Anaheim '03, Calgary '04, and the Oilers '06.
