Wings "toughness" last 2 games?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Cleary boarding Thornton, Datsyuk throwing his weight around all game against the Sharks, Draper shouldering LA's tough guy Ivanans out of the game, Kopecky elbowing Simmonds in the face?...and Kopecky scores?!!!!

Has the switch been flipped?

I've noticed Kronwall trying to lay some big hits more frequently too. I think everyone is getting in playoff mode. The 4th line has looked a lot better ever since this rotation took place. I don't know if I want Babs to be rotating guys out come playoff time, but that just may be the way it has to be with Helm and Leino making strong cases for starting spots.

I'm really impressed with Helm and Babcock's faith to put him on the PK. I think this kid is easily the 3rd line center next year. And then there's Leino, in which case not much needs to be said about his scoring ability. He just needs to hit the gym like Datsyuk did during his early career.

That's what I think it is, although when they flipped the "toughness" switch they forgot to also flip the "solid defense" and "no give-aways" switches. Seriously 15 Detroit give-aways to 3 for LA, and only 2 Detroit take-aways. That crap needs to stop. This is why I blame the team for making Osgood's slump worse.

We'll see how they do in Nashville at the end of three in four.

Mike Illitch changed up the sauce in the Little Caesars.

I'm telling you, that's it.

That must be it. I had a hot and ready last night and after eating a few slices I got the sudden urge to head over to a questionable part of town and start a fight...

I wonder what the Sauce will do when the Wing's play Nashville tonight...

I'm don't really give a rat's ass what is causing the "change". I just hope it stays that way right through the playoffs.

Solid hockey...two beautiful words.

Starting the home stretch of the season seems to be part of it, but I think the rotation and playing of Helm/Leino has done a lot of good for the whole of the team. Helm is adding so much energy, and the 4th liners are being forced to match it.

Agree, and Datsyuk as well. If Datsyuk is out-hitting the 4th line, or any line other than the first for that matter, something is wrong. It's perfect, Leino keeps the pressure on the hands team to produce with his skill, and Helm keeps the pressure on the muckers and checkers to produce. Win/Win!
