Guest Shoreline Report post Posted March 5, 2009 How did Big Rig look? Downey get in to any scraps? Nope. But he brings another element -- physical energy, and lighting a fire under teammate's asses who might be on the bubble. Nothing like some competition. Stolsanov 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 What a back to back game series by Downey, Fil, Kopecky, and Ericsson and the rest of the team but those 4 really stood out to me these past two games.. Kopecky was busting his ass, prolly doesnt wanna sit through playoffs again looks like Hossa has been teaching him some patience with the puck too lol.. Nothing like some competition. True. I did notice he stands in the middle of everything challenging after the whistle too, something the Wings have lacked for some time. esteef
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 God damn Kopecky is looking good lately. He should get some more kids. That one move he tried looked like something Hossa would do, too bad he wasn't able to get it in. I also like what we're seeing from Maltby and Drapes. They're looking pretty good now regardless of who the 3rd link on that line is. Datsyuk looks snakebit though. He's shooting wide and hitting the iron and basically doing everything but actually scoring.

Bozewings 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) I can't believe the ice time Kopecky's getting. Babcock and management must have seen things in this kid that many of us could not, and many still can't. Also, I can't help but think he must be someone that everyone on the team likes, or else he would have been gone long ago. It is nice to see him working his ass off. With the work he's shown on every shift lately, I can't help but jump on the wagon. I've always been a sucker for the underdog. edit grammar Edited March 5, 2009 by Bozewings
Yak19 303 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Conklin stick handling the puck behind his net was key tonight, he neutralized the dump and chase of the avs by getting possession to the Wings. Drapes, Kopecky, Flip all turning it on! Nice! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Nearly a season's worth of anger directed at those fourth line scrubs and Flipper is finally paying off. Now if we could get the top lines scoring again we'd really be in business.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Downey with more points than Datsyuk and Zetterberg combined...

He had a HUGE grin on his face. Good to see.
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 I got home in time to watch the third period and was thrilled to see the score at that point. And in replays of earlier stuff on the ice I noticed LaPoophead looked busted up a bit and hoped that Downey had gotten to him. No such luck. I still haven't watched the first two periods, but after the game ended I checked out this board. You guys must have been going nuts when the bad guys scored first, and it sounds like it was early in the game. I know I would have been peeling myself off the ceiling. Glad I wasn't there, actually! A lot of you brought this up in your posts....the most promising part of that game - and the one with the Blues too - is the performance of the Wings' whipping boys. If they keep that up, do we dare even think what that might mean for our team's chances??!! As bad as I feel personally for dissing Flip's future with the Wings, I am SO happy for him. And Kopecky. And Drapes! And even Downey because he got a point!! And we're in first place in the whole frickin league!! For today....!
HanKarin40 7 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Couldn't agree more! Great to see the fourth liners chipping in and producing points in both games!

Rivalred 630 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 Can't beleive it's taken 65 games, but damn it feels good to be #1 again. Just remember, the Sharks have a few games in hand and they just added some depth to their D. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Plus you have to be watching what Boston does...
