The Wings are basically 1 point behind the Sharks (counting the 2 games in hand as wins).

Technically they don't have to win one more game than the Sharks, they could just lose 2 in OT while the Sharks lose 2 in regulation.

With the easy schedule for the Sharks it's pretty much all in their hands.

What's so stupid about that, if the sharks loose one game and the wings win the rest wings will finish 1st? If the sharks win the rest of their games and wings do the same sharks will win because they got one game in hand

It's a pretty stupid question. Anyone do the math??? It's two games in hand with a three point difference. A 3-year old could work out what's required.

The math was done ages ago, mindfly just isn't paying attention and asking stupidly redundant questions. Things will make more sense this week when the Sharks and Wings catch up in games played. If I heard correctly at the end of the season the Sharks will have a game or two in hand for the Wings last game(s), so if the Wings finish as they should, the ball should be in their court.

The Wings play their final game the day after the Sharks play theirs, if that's what you're trying to say.

It's gonna be close.

The Sharks remaining schedule breaks down as:

ANA 2 (1 H, 1 A)

COL 2 (2 H, 0 A)

CGY 1 (0 H, 1 A)

CHI 1 (0 H, 1 A)

EDM 1 (0 H, 1 A)

LA 1 (0 H, 1 A)

NSH 1 (0 H, 1 A)

PHX 2 (2 H, 0 A)

Home Games Remaining: 5

Away Games Remaining: 6

Detroit's breaks down as:

BUF 1 (0 H, 1 A)

CGY 1 (0 H, 1 A)

CHI 2 (1 H, 1 A)

EDM 1 (0 H, 1 A)

MIN 1 (1 H, 0 A)

NYI 1 (1 H, 0 A)

NSH 2 (2 H, 0 A)

STL 1 (1 H, 0 A)

Home Games Remaining: 6

Away Games Remaining: 4

Hopefully the Wings can grab some points on the Canadian trip (easier said than done). Maybe Gretzky's Coyotes can haunt the Sharks again! :P

Did the Sharks lose Rob Blake to an injury or is ESPN's account of ice time just completely wrong?

He was gone in the second with an "undisclosed" injury, so says the broadcast.

And Goc was just injured in a knee on knee collision next to the boards and helped by a teammate and staff member -- not able to put any weight on his left knee at all.

Nashville has a much better shot at beating them tomor! But even still even if the Sharks lose, Wings still need to beat Calgary/Edmonton on back to back nights.

You mean CO?

Whoa, did sharks just win a game in regulation time?

They must feel superior after beating a depleted Stars team that probably won't make the playoffs...

Losing Goc and Blake is a pretty bad result. I'd rather have the Sharks lose and stay healthy than win and lose 2 more guys. Goc's injury looked worse than blake's. In the postgame they didn't say much about Blake other than that they have no additional info. Chances are both wont be playing tomorrow against Colorado.

They shouldn't need them... Colorado should be a cakewalk, assuming Shark's goalie is average. Thank you lucky stars that Sharks are blessed with a simple schedule right now.

I think the Sharks have proved that it doesn't matter if they're playing someone at the bottom of the conference. They really can't take anyone for granted. As for their schedule, I think the simple schedule you're referring to is more at the end of the season in the last 5 games. After Colorado tomorrow they go on the road and play another back to back in Chicago and in Nashville. Then they're back home for one against Phoenix before going back on the road to Calgary. 3 road games against current playoff teams including a back to back isn't what I would consider a simple schedule. It gets much easier after that though.

Their division sucks &*%$#. Not a single playoff team - no competition. Nashville had that game in the bag the other night but couldn't pull through. How many of the Sharks "W"s have come in OT??

Anyhow, beating up on crappy division teams won't help them come PO time. Us Wings fans ought to know, having had a weak division for several years prior to this season.

And tomorrow they get the lowly reeling Avs, must be nice....

Ken and Mickey said the opposite, we will have games at hand here soon.

Prediction

1000000-999999 Dallas wins, San Jose's confidence is shattered and they rehire Ron Wilson for their playoff run, because after such a defeat, getting to the second round wouldn't be so bad.

How are those powers of prediction workin for you now????

According to coach both injuries were considered "oowwees". I doubt we will see Goc anytime soon but Blake should be back for the Hawks game. Losing Goc would be a real bummer.
