GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 So at this point there's no way we can play the Blues, right?
Williams29fan 6 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Um, if the Blues win tomorrow, they'll take 6th spot overall. They'll have 92 points (same as CBJ), 41 wins (same as CBJ), and they'll have the tie breaker (they beat CBJ 4 or 5 times in the season series this year. Anaheim ends the season with 91 points. So rest assured, if the Blues win tomorrow, we won't even have to step out of the Great Lakes Region in the first round. No time change either. And if the blues loose in OT then we face them? SetecX 139 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 So it's just not at all possible to face the Blues in the first round? That seems bizarre.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Dammit. The first round is going to be f*****g tough now either way with a scorching St. Louis or Anaheim. Go Blues, but bang 'em up good Avs We won't play the Blues, no matter what happens tomorrow. Its down to Anaheim or CBJ.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 And if the blues loose in OT then we face them? Yup. The Blues have to WIN (i.e. get TWO points) in order for us to face the jackets. If anything happens BUT them getting two points, we face Anaheim.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Blues better friken win tomorrow! Also, If blues do win, they'll be tied with CBJ with points and wins. How does the NHL pick the seed? 1. Points 2. Wins 3. Season Series (Blues win this)
Williams29fan 6 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Go Blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 We want to play Jackets. The Jackets or Ducks are going to be tough customers regardless, so we might as well take the one that requires next to ZERO travel. This could be just what the doctor ordered to kick off a long playoff run.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Looks like the Blues lucked out. They would have had no chance against us. I think the Ducks purposely wanted to play the Wings.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) I'd personally love to see a Sharks-Ducks series myself.... Blues will beat the Avs. Given my choice I'd prefer to avoid the Ducks and the travel in round 1....but I must beware of what I ask for.... edit: oh i definitely do not want the Sharks to draw the Blues.... they need a tougher round 1 Edited April 12, 2009 by RockyMountainWingGal

I hear Forsberg is going to suit up for Colorado if the NHL magically gives them a spot in the playoffs, regardless of them finishing last.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Well, when the Preds first made the playoffs they had to take on the big brother of the Central, so it seems right and proper that the BJs should have to face that same challenge. Go get 'em, Blues.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 The will likely play the Sharks, because Avs are having a horrible time. I wouldn't call anything likely. It's just one game; any team can win or lose one game.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 I don't think they blew the game to "purposely play the Wings". The will likely play the Sharks, because Avs are having a horrible time. You never know. Phoenix had nothing to play for just like the divelanche tomorrow. That never seems to matter in any sport. St. Louis might be overconfident tomorrow. St. Louis might be overconfident tomorrow. Phoenix had keeping Anaheim out of the 6th spot to play for. Down and out teams - especially division rivals - love to play spoiler. Add that to the fact that Gretzky needed to finish the year strong, and a couple of wins against playoff teams bodes well for his off-season fate. I'd also bet that the Blues would rather play Anaheim than San Jose. Theres still a lot for the Blues to fight for tomorrow. Doesn't guarantee a win, but we'l see. Vincanni 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Avs went to OT tonight and play tomorrow on a back to back, they're also absolutely terrible this year and missing their leading scorer while St. Louis has been one of the hottest teams in the league the second half of the season, yet I can't help but get an uneasy feeling that Colorado is going to screw us over and somehow pull off the upset. Mike 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) Tomorrow's going to be soooo exciting! I will be nervous as hell. I won't be at home and will have nothing but ESPN on my cell phone to keep me updated on the St. Louis game. I better take my phone charger with me. Go Blues!
