daniel1 32 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I agree that the Ducks would be a hard fought second round series for us but I would rather face the Ducks in the 2nd round (which I believe we would win) rather than a confident, on-a-roll Sharks team that has made it to the Conference Finals. I think the Sharks are the only team with the depth to match up against us in a 7 game series and prevent us from a return to the Cup finals. I think we can beat any/all of the other Western teams, but I think the Sharks would be the toughest test for us given that Todd McLellan knows our system and personnel so well and the Sharks have 3 legitimate lines just like the Wings. I guess I can understand that logic, but I feel like winning the series, when the Ducks were just happy to be in the playoffs, would do far more for the Ducks motivation than the Sharks motivation. Like the Ducks might just start thinking they could win this thing and then start gooning it up like mad against us, and I really would prefer not to face that. Because people have a fairly long memory. 2003 and 2007 included outstanding defense and goaltending by the Ducks, and a Wings offense that wouldn't come through. People would be rightfully nervous.
