BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 damn...did anyone honestly predict the ducks would take the first 2 games? I sure didn't. I thought the Ducks would give the Sharks a lot of trouble, but not to the tune of going up 2-0 in the series. The thing is, the Sharks haven't played bad hockey. They're out there battling, dominating the puck, taking lots of shots and doing a lot of good things. But they can't get the puck past Anaheim's excellent defense or their amazing goaltender. The Ducks are definitely being outplayed, but that fact isn't doing the Sharks much good right now!
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Apparently they shouldn't. WOW - same bunch of NO SHOWS every year. Please never ever let Joe Thornton on our team. This makes up for all the a$$ kissing I had to endure for the Sharks all year. I do have to feel a tad bit sorry for their fans - not that they couldn't come back and win the series, but take 4/5 from the Ducks with 3 games at the Pond....odds are against it. The arguments with Sharks fans I had on this board were just like with Sharks fans in the Bay Area. A GOOD REGULAR SEASON DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING IN THE PLAYOFFS But, this is a new season and the Shark-- NO. PLAYOFFS. DIFFERENT SEASON. But the President's.. NO. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Funny how people used to think Thornton was better then Datsyuk, hah. They go out and get Blake, Boyle, Luckowich, Roenick, Lemieux, Boucher, and bring in Mclennen as coach. All winners, but the rest of them have nothing, zippo. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 They got the President's trophy. That's a high achievement for that bunch of underachievers. Put all their energy into being the #1 seed overall - I'm feeling a bit of regret for berating the Wings for putting it in cruise control the second half of the season. Thought the Sharks would wait until at least the second round to choke. Are the Ducks this good? Or could the Sharks really be this inept....?

So hilariously fitting." "I'm so pissed. Apparently someone misplaced the magic switch you're supposed to flip when the playoffs come around. EPIC FAIL!" "Look at the bright side. The Sharks won't be eliminated in the second round this year." Edit: "Maybe i should just move to Detroit. This is just pitiful." Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 20, 2009 And about the reffing. This game was reffed for the most part very well. There's always a few questionable calls. However, the Sharks got a lot of powerplays, which should be expected in playing a goonish team like the Ducks. I'd be worried if the calls were even. (was like 6-2) What is plaguing them has plagued the Wings in the past. They just did NOT convert on their opportunities. Simple as that. Sharks broadcast trying to give their team hopes like the Wings in 2002 and Canes in 2006 coming down from an 0-2 start, but the Sharks simply have done nothing but not show up in the postseason, and I so predicted this. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I guess I can understand that logic, but I feel like winning the series, when the Ducks were just happy to be in the playoffs, would do far more for the Ducks motivation than the Sharks motivation. Like the Ducks might just start thinking they could win this thing and then start gooning it up like mad against us, and I really would prefer not to face that. I hear ya. The thing with the Sharks is they have potential, and if they get firing on all cylinders they could really take it to the Wings -- and not just physically (as in the Ducks). But with the way this series is going...
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) I'd say I'm shocked, but I'm really not. Wonder when the Sharks will ever wake the hell up in the playoffs? Not that I care at all but you'd think after being labeled 'choke artists' for a long time now that finally they'd do something about it. Blake and Lemieux - way past their prime. Roenick is as much of a perennial choke artist as anyone. Mclellan is a rookie coach who is trying to just use a page out of the Babcock/Wings system to get this team to win. I'd take Datsyuk anyday over anyone on that team....
