nicpdx 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I know that the the announcers were saying Osgood looked like he had a groin issue, and from what I saw towards the end of the third, it looked like he wasn't getting up as fast as normal. I'm happy we won that game so the boys can go home and rest, especially Osgood. Has anyone heard anything or no something about this situation? I know in the playoffs coaches don't say anything about injuries but to me it was pretty obvious something was bothering him. I'm glad he battled through the third and got the W. Franzen could be one of the most clutch Wings ever. So my first question is Ozzy hurt? If he is let his wife massage his groin and have him do yoga. Second, who are the top five most clutch Wings in the past 18 year (amazing) playoff run?
clayjoh 3 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 It was obvious esp on the Nash goal he couldn't go right to left in the crease look at that goal in slo-mo and you'll see it groin pull type problem could be big time trouble rest assured the other teams will be reviewing footage also
MCFreshWes 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I have a hard time believing that Babcock would put him out there for the 3rd period if it was anything serious...well, at least I hope.
PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Do you think he got a shot in between the 2nd and 3rd?
Guest Four Report post Posted April 24, 2009 He'll be fine. He looked stable in the third and that it wasn't bothering too much. The long break will be plenty of time for him if he was able to play the third like that. He should be near 100% net round.
maltbymaniac 13 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 i hope so,cause he was looking a lil squirrely last night.
selkie 10 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 In the great playoffs tradition of not disclosing injuries properly, I'll chalk last night's miscues up to, um, how does 'stomach virus' sound? And then as sometimes happens, claim that after he threw up in between the second and third, he started to feel and play better? Can I get a job writing Wings press releases like that? Casey 145 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Do you think he got a shot in between the 2nd and 3rd? I'd bet on it. Cortisone and novocaine, if I were picking- kill the inflammation and the pain. It's probably a minor groin pull, and a week rest will have him right as rain.

He chipped a nail and was concerned that it would rip, but his manicurist got it taken care of during the intermission. Seriously, it is frustrating to not know what is up with the players, but I totally understand why they guard that information. It is interesting to watch a rerun of a game and know what a player was battling in hindsight. It gives you an all-new respect for what they go through. It's a good thing we took this in 4. Rest and emory boards will do wonders for the next round. Be well, Ozzie. We need you!
Canadian_Yzerman_Fan 7 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Yeah... in the post-game Babs said that Ozzy is 100%, but I think it's pretty obvious that isn't true. It'd be tough to throw Conklin into the fire like that. They knew they just needed to win one period to get a lengthy rest. The fact that he was able to go back in is slightly reassuring though. It probably means that they think the time off will be enough for him to get better.
egroen 384 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I kept watching the bench to see any motion from Conklin -- they appeared completely unconcerned on the bench, so I am going to assume he really was fine.
interminded 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 He was solid in the 3rd. It didn't seem like anything was bothering him. I guess it was just something temporary .. like a pinched muscle or nerve or something... happens to all of us, right ?
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Whatever it is that was bothering him, it looked really bad in the 2nd. He was barely tested in the 3rd but looked fine in his movements. Most important thing is that they got the win. The rest will do both Ozzie and Hank good, Babs mentioned Z having some groin issue.
StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 yeah I'm a little worried. Shades of 99 in my head when he got hurt after a great first round sweep of the Ducks and then he was gone and Ranford imploaded in games 3 & 4 against the Avs. But the fact that he did come back out made me feel better and makes me think it wasn't too bad and a week to rest will make it better. I would think if it was real bad and could have cost him longer term he wouldn't have come back out. he looked better in the 3rd even though he didn't have to make too many tough saves in that period. Johnny Law 15 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Groin stuff is weird, lots of pain in certain movements fine in others. Probably something along that line, few days off and he will be fine.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I'd bet on it. Cortisone and novocaine, if I were picking- kill the inflammation and the pain. It's probably a minor groin pull, and a week rest will have him right as rain. QFT When he came out in the third he was moving laterally without any problem whatsoever, yet in the 2nd you could see him struggling just to get up after dropping to the butterfly. Mickey made the comment toward the end of the 2nd period that Oz was fine going down into the butterfly but was struggling going laterally, but I had disagree with that assessment. I think Oz was fighting the pain and it hindered his motion even dropping down. The goal that tied the game at 5 was a perfect example. He couldn't hang on to the shot and then didn't gobble up the rebound in time. He was making those saves and gobbling up those types of rebounds with regularity in the first 3 games. A week off should hopefully do the trick for him.
wmubronco420 25 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 i think he probably got a shot between the 2 and 3rd period, after the fifth goal he actually had to use the crossbar to be able to get up!
PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 mhmmm novacaine zombie mode ... fun stuff anyway that Husellius shot looked harmless and the one goal where Vermette was right in the crease looked harmless too. It looked like after that goal where Vermette was in the crease Ozzie tried movin his left leg to get back in standing positoin and it gave out on him a little.. anyone know if he always used his blocker side leg to get up from the ice all the time? I think he tweaked his knee
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Ozzy is pretty much druged up worse than Anna Nicole Smith... I can say without hesitation that his Prince of Darkness reign is coming to an end.... OH you mean OZZIE!!! my bad.... not sure we will find out anything till mid June
Superted 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 ey guys and gals... i'm a physical therapist/physiotherapist (depending on which part of the world you come from). If it's an acute major tear of the groin you're looking at about 3 weeks BUT if it was an acute tear I'd hardly doubt he'd have played on with the 3rd period. I didn't see the game so I can't really comment, but from what I gather he did look sluggish? Most likely, the groin was cramping and tightening up .... not really a problem in that there's no actual damage of the tissue... he'll be fine with rest and proper treatment. You're looking at a whole load of some guy massaging his special area, and stretches. If there was a very minor tear then yeh as mentioned before, cortisone injections are likely to try and get him through the next few weeks. The only danger was that by playing that 3rd period with a cramped and tight groin he would've opened himself up to a high risk of totally straining/tearing it again...THEN it's goodbye Ozzy, hello Conks The long and short of it is: DON'T WORRY...hopefully
