New Faces, Old Hate

Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm a writer and editor from Toronto and a huge Wings fan. I write a blog that, especially during playoff time, tends to turn into kind of a Red Wings blog. Anyway, my friend posted a couple of my pieces here and sent me the links and I poked around and this site is amazing, so I signed up to join the playoff fun.

I'm not sure if it's totally allowed or if it's frowned upon to post links to your own writing, but since a bunch of people seemed to enjoy the last one, I figured I would just do it and hope foir the best. It's definitely Wings-focused and highly relevant, so I hope it's okay.

So yeah, here's why I am not worried at all about the upcoming series. I mean seriously? Bring on the Ducks. They're mean and inconsistent and we will absolutely beat them in six.

This is a different Red Wings team. And I am sure that, watching the Ducks thug their way into an upset of the Sharks last night, they saw a series of nasty, intent-to-injure and intent-to-intimidate hits and smiled to themselves as they watched the Ducks make their way to the penalty box.

Your average dumb penalty, when taken against this Red Wings power play, is approximately 57% dumber. The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 series lead against the Sharks when Joe Thornton and Co. went 0-for-12 in the first two games of the series with the man advantage.

If there is anybody reading this who thinks that you can give this Red Wings power play 12 chances to score over two games and still win those two games, then I will say this to you, Mr. Pronger: You’re an *******. Don’t touch me.

I dont think penalties will be a deciding factor.. for as many aggresor type penalties the ducks do, the wings will end up taking as many stick penalties.

I hope there is a buzzing hate swirling in the joe though.

How many of those stick penalties will be make up calls...? I think penalties will be a large factor, and the Wings power play will not be as effective as it was against the Jackets.

Good read, similar to what I've been saying about this years Wings vs. two seasons ago. Forgot one more piece, Brian Rafalski. Lidstrom-Rafalski-Kronwall-Stuart-Ericsson-Lebda vs. Lidstrom-Markov-Lilja-Lebda-Chelios-Quincey.... NIGHT AND DAY.

Then mentioning an improved Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Filppula, and Hudler. Huge 4th line boost from Darren Helm, and I guy named Marian Hossa.

Have the Ducks changed alot? Yes. Have they improved the leaps and bounds through the lineup the way the Wings have in the last two years? Hell no.

The Wings have a much greater frustration factor than the Sharks, and more composure, leading to even more PP than the Sharks enjoyed with the ability to actually finish. As for Hiller, last playoffs Turco was a god, then he met the Wings. Theodore single handedly got the Avs to round two, then he met the Wings. Fluery was near unstoppable, see 2008 Stanley Cup winning goal. And Mason.... you get the point.

Well, what is trying to be said, and has been proven in EVERY series the Wings have played last year and the first round this year is you can go ahead and hit, punch, rough and TRY to intimidate the Wings. They aren't intimidated. I cannot wait to see Pavel catch Chrissy and knock him on his wife-beating, cheating ass. Oh BTW, this just out, Chrissy is no longer Bettmans golden boy, that guy plays in Pittsburgh, so don't think Chrissy is going to be able to get away with any of his "Genetics" elbows and hits from behind this time around. No stomping or flying forearms. Chrissy will be called and severley penalized. You guys may as well sit Parros as well, because he will not be able to play is game, unless his game involves a steady flow to the penalty box. Then we'll gladly have you suit him up. I hope you've enjoyed your playoff run, you gonna have a very hard time winning one game, let alone the series. Yes, the Ducks did outplay the Sharks, but that is not going to happen against the Wings, they are gonna have to outplay the Wings the entire series, because they won't be thugged, and that just won't happen. You guys do know who won that series right? In fact, didn't the Duck sweep Detroit 4-0 the time before that then beat them 4-2 in the series where the league jumped in and unfairly suspended Pronger? Or am I confused, thinking of some other team that called the league office after Anaheim beat them?

I'd say Perry got the better of that match up last time. I mean the Duck are 8-2 against the Wings the last 2 playoff series.

It seems like the Ducks aren't as tough physically as they used to be.

Parros is pretty much the only real tough guy that they dress anymore. Guys like Thornton, Moen, May, etc. are no longer there.

Wings fans are underestimating the ducks team this year... just like the shark fans did. Everyone was predicting sharks in 3!! lol ehh we will see friday.

Mr. Pronger is a very bad man with the elbows and with the stomping with the skate. I fear that the red wing will not like how he is inconsiderate. Ryan Getzlaf is mean as a mule with the teeth lik a mule also. Very tough like a bear is Parros.

Dude, YOU were the one complaining about Chrissy being UNFAIRLY suspended. Look at the original post I replied to. I just figured everyone would like to see why he was so UNFAIRLY suspended. I am not complaining, you were. I figured everyone would like to know why you were complaining. And the video showed clearly he did nothing wrong and didn't deserve a suspention. There was clearly no intent to injure.

New tough guys on Anaheim? You could have the toughest guy in the league and he (they) STILL will intimidate the Wings. You can illegally or legally hit this team all you want, there is no backing down and there is NO intimidation. It is you, Hector, who will be surprised when you see what you are up against. If the Duckies come in with your attitude, I cannot see them winning one game.

And to comment on Perry mouth getting backed-up. Did he give "IT" to Sammy or Datsyuk that series? I don't think so. The Ducks won because we failed to score on our power play chances. Won't happen this year. And the "IT" that will be given is gonna come from Datsyuk, Kronwall, Stuart & Helm amongnst others. Ducks won't hang this year, sorry.

What I find the funniest about Perry and his talking to Datsyuk is he is too stupid to realize that Datsyuk speaks Russian and Samuelsson Swedish. So why would Perry ask Datsyuk to tell Samuelsson he is gonna get it, when, first of all Sammy speaks English, so if you're that much of a bad ass, tell him yourself, or if he think Sammy doesn't speak Englishis he that naive to assume that Datsyuk speaks Swedish or that Sammy is Russian? Perry is a narrowminded fool and will get his this series, especially when Datsyuk knocks him on his ass a few times!

I can hear the exchange now:

Unfortunately for Red Wing fan they dismiss talent of duck and may be surprise like shark team was.

here's the difference: We as fans may dismiss the talent on the duckies, but the Wings don't, so no, they will NOT be surprised. The Sharks fans dismissed the talent and the team suffered from the typical 1-8 matchup that we have learned to overcome over the years. They may have dismissed the Duckies talent as well, but you can guarantee, the Detroit Red Wings will NEVER underestimate an opponent. It's tatoo'd into their heads by one Mike Babcock. Besides, any flying elboes or stomping will be called and suspensions brougbht down this time around. Chrissy will not intimidate anyone on this team. He should just go back to wife-beating.

The only thing that makes sense is you leaving and coming back when you have something constructive to add to this forum. At the time,Datsyuk spoke VERY little English so I doubt he understood all the crap Perry was trying to intimidate him with. He probably understood, Samuelsson and Pavel. Also, did you hear Pav respond t him in English? No, he just looked at him like, "what is that cum-gargle your spewing from those lips?" ANd if you are referring to Datsyuk talking to him AFTER he destroys him this series, uh.... he has learned more English now. Too bad your team hasn't learned more Hockey.

Why are you bothering to come here and troll? There's no point in saying that Corey Perry is going to intimidate the Red Wings, as none of us really can tell how effectively either team will be intimidated. You haven't produced a single scrap of evidence for why the Ducks will beat the Wings in a seven-game series and at this point all you are doing is spewing nonsense and picking fights over trivial comments.

Come back when you are ready to discuss hockey maturely instead of deciding to hurl foolish insults.
