Washington wins because NYR are in their usual focus on drama, rely solely on Lundqvist mode.

Carolina because the NHL is desperate to see Caps-Pens in the playoffs, and even more desperate for the Pens to win such a matchup.

washington is the better team and jersey has home ice advantage.

Washington is rolling with all the momentum as well as home ice, while the Rangers are a drama soaked mess at the moment and should be on their way out barring a monster game from Lundqvist. New Jersey wins in OT, just a gut feeling.

I want: WAS and CAR

I think: NYR and NJ.

I think the rangers will somehow pull it off because the Caps need to prove they can win the big game. They weren't able to do it last year so we'll see now. I just think NJ will get it done tonight. No team has won 2 straight in this series and it'll be hard for the Canes to do it in Jersey.

Caps will win tonight for sure. They have the momentum and the Rangers look pathetic. They do not belong in the 2nd round.

I think the Devils could win....it all depends on how Brodeur decides to play tonight <_<

I am cheering for the Capitals and the Devils, and I think they will come out on top...

The Capitals I am more confident in of the two, the Rangers are a one-man team and I don't think he can carry them out of this game with the offense struggling and he himself having been pulled in 2 straight.... And the fact that the Rangers do not belong in the 2nd round and would be pounded by the Bruins (i.e. a boring series)....

I think Brodeur will get it done tonight in a goaltending battle, the Devils offense is also due for a breakout... and I think the Canes have been playing over their heads since the last 8 games of the season or so, it can't last... And the Canes are in my top 3 most hated teams in the league :P

One bonus from a Hurricanes win would be a Penguins vs Washington 2nd round matchup (assuming the latter beats the Rangers of course)

Crap, I was just about to say that the Rangers shock everyone on the planet and pull it off but you beat me to it. It'd be one of those things where I'd put it in my sig as evidence of my total sweetness if I turned out to be right, and nobody would remember if I'm wrong.

I actually think Washington wins although Lundqvist finds himself and it'll be a close 3-2 type game. The Caps' stars are starting to click a little bit, first with Ovechkin and now Green got on the board as well. Don't underestimate the Rangers losing Betts either--he's crucial to them on the PK.

I'm rooting for and think Carolina beats NJ. Just a gut feeling, it's pretty close to 50-50 IMO.

I predicted Carolina in seven, and Washington in five, so I have a lot of points on the line in the playoff picks game.

From the onset I thought the 3-6 matchup in the East was the most difficult to predict because neither team is absolutely complete, but are very competitive with each other (obviously). That matchup has lived up to that expectation: New Jersey wins a shutdown 1-0 game five getting contributions from a grinder, then Carolina lights up the offense and the big stars shellack Brodeur. I say Carolina carries the momentum into a game seven win.

Likewise, momentum aids the Caps, while the Rangers carry on with no clue as to what's going on. It'll be a sloppy game, lots of scraps, Rangers play aggressive, take penalties, and neglect defensive responsibilities. Caps blow 'em out.

Hoping for Canes and Caps. Should be watching both. :)

Edit: Well, I might be watching the Caps/Rangers game and switching over to the Devils/Canes game in between stoppages or periods.

Caps & Devils...

I really want to see Boston kick the s*** out of Cindy and the Pens.

If the Devils can beat the Caps in the 2nd round, that IMO is a much tougher opponent for Boston after they hammer the Pens.

Washington still needs a few pieces.
