RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Campbell is a dick. So Brashear gets kicked out for 5 games, but the freaking Ducks can get away with the same sh&t. Bettman really does have it in for the Red Wings, that &^%#
12Newf 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 not really surprised but definitely pissed off.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Don't really care, Mike Brown is a scrub let him play, more goals for us.

Bettman really does have it in for the Red Wings, that &^%# He really does have it out for the wings. I would say that hit was half as bad as the brash hit so it should should receive at least half as many games, rounding down to
RedSea 31 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Brashear angry. Brashear smash.
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I think if Huds didn't come back and was gonna miss time, it may be a different story, but he was back the next period, so I have a feeling that had an effect on their decision.
Guest MrSandMan Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Good, so it's legal to destroy other players. Lets hope Kronner rearranges Niedermayer head, face and neck.
GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Yeah, its easy to argue either way I guess but in my opinion its not a suspension.. If you think its the same as the Brashear hit then you are wrong.. Brashear targeted the head and the puck was long gone.. Maybe you should reverse the roll and picture it as Kopecky hitting one of the Ducks with their head down watching their pass.. if that was the case 80% of people here would have been furious that there was even a major on the play.. b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Not surprised, but its definitely the wrong call. Letting the goons goon because Hudler wasn't concussed. I guarantee Hudler sit out games so does Brown, and that ain't right. That along with word Rafalski will be out for Game 2 has me plenty pissed off today. The Ducks better be on thin ice with the gonnery from here on in.
Trapt1307 81 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 It's the right decision. He didn't deserve to be suspended. The game misconduct was plenty.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Brown's hit was nowhere close to Brashear's. Having said that, I thought Brown deserved at least a game. Because this hit happened halfway through the 1st, Campbell must have felt that a game misconduct and the major was enough. Hopefully the Wings won't do something stupid and put themselves down a man trying to get revenge. Best revenge would be putting the Ducks on the tee in 4 games. EuroTwin 240 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Well I'm not that surprised Irritated definitely. Given that they've been handing out suspensions like candy, I thought Brown would be gone for a game. Oh well, all the more reason to destroy them in Game 2.
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Another thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that huds is what, like 5'6"? brown isn't. I think his shoulder got his head and the blood obviously cam from the visor cutting him. It was a nasty hit, but it is hard to really define it worthy of a suspension or a clean hit, so I guess tie goes to the runner?
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I thought a game was warranted, but whatever. He got a major penalty and was ejected during the current game. It's a start. Baby steps, baby steps.
nosyt612 103 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I agree with no suspension, at first I was angry about the hit, but its not as bad as Brashears one. The hit wasn't late and Hudler got caught admiring his pass. If Kronwall did this hit we'd all be cheering about it.
12Newf 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 I thought a game was warranted, but whatever. He got a major penalty and was ejected during the current game. It's a start. Baby steps, baby steps. and the ducks having to play down a man meant getzlaf playing 27 minutes so i feel like the right call was made. HOWEVER, as far as consistency goes (of which there is none in the NHL), this should have been at least a game.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Once again, the visor DID NOT CUT HIM, Brown got the butt end of his stick to Hudler's face. No suspension, it should have been a double-minor for high sticking. Brown was attempting to hurt Hudler but not so much with the hit as with the stick end to the face. Guest Four Report post Posted May 2, 2009 He deserved one game. But they didn't give Kronner a game last year with his flying elbow so it's evened out.
stillwater 186 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 If Brown hits Sidney Crosby the same way, he's gone for the duration of the playoffs.

You do realize butt ending someone is different from a high stick. If a player butt ends another player and injures him that is a match penalty. A butt end would be jabbing or checking someone with the butt end of the stick.
GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 If Brown hits Sidney Crosby the same way, he's gone for the duration of the playoffs. Yes, but thats a whole new set of rules.. See: NHL Rule 87. C) Thou shalt not hit the greatest player in the NHL, Sidney Crosby. Anyone who so much as sneezes on him or gives him a dirty look will be up for review. If any injury to Crosby should occur during the playoffs all games shall be postponed until he can return.

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 TSN Ice Chips I think it was the right call. Hudler had his head down. The Ducks received a major penalty and Brown was ejected, nothing else is necessary, IMHO. Agreed. The message was sent in the game to keep it clean. For the sake of the Wings playoff aspirations I hope the message was received.
