Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 99% of the posters here understood that we weren't sweeping the Ducks. The other 1% is having a meltdown because we lost a triple OT game at home. Those are the threads we see more of. What is wrong with that picture?

Guest MrSandMan Report post Posted May 4, 2009 Its panic because it was a HOME loss and its going to be hard to go in there and take both. Why? The Ducks have been less than spectacular on their home ice. Detroit is great on the road. Advantage=Detroit. The pressure is on the Ducks to win at home now. Chase 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) To be honest, I havent talked to one person yet that was freaking out about this loss. Then again, I havent read many posts on here since the loss. Either jump off the bandwagon, or STFU. This is playoff hockey. We werent about to go 16-0. We lost in triple OT. It was a hard fought battle. Get over it, move on, and concentrate on the next game. Its a best of 5 series now, and I am confident we will take this series. Go Wings. Edited May 4, 2009 by Chase
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 I wonder If it was a visiting Ducks fan.... Good question. He went on for quite awhile about how Hossa sucks, too.. which is sounding oddly familiar to some LGWers...
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 To Whoever is concerned about winning at Anaheim, keep in mind that the SHARKS were capable of beating Anaheim on their own ice. It can be done. In fact, I could easily see us going back to Detroit up 3 games to 1.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 Hey!... For those who've been Wings fans for a while, 4 cups in 11 years has become like crack to us. We want everyone else to beat each other up but when it comes to the Wings they better win, dammit!... But yeah, seriously, everyone, relax...

Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) I'm not surprised Anaheim won a game in Detroit. They're a good team, they won the Cup two years ago. This will be a close 6 or 7 Game Series, so get ready. Edit: Vancouver and Boston lost at home too, and I would bet Pittsburgh ties up their series against Washington as well. This is the playoffs folks... Edited May 4, 2009 by Barrie
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 I'm not worried. But I am disappointed. I never expected to sweep the Ducks. But I did expect us to win our home games. I expected the Red Wings to show up before the third period. I mean we barely pulled out a win for game one. They certainly did not play up to their capabilities, and I think we can all agree on that. But we can also agree that if any team is going to come back from two tough games, it's going to be the Red Wings.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 I don't get why everyone seems to think we'll lose the series if we don't win both games in Anaheim. If we don't, which we most likely won't, we simply have to win 2 of the following 3, two of which will be on home ice. What's the big deal? A sweep was highly unlikely to begin with. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 Honestly? I think because we ran through Columbus, people assumed we'd be able to take down every other team we played. I'm not saying they anticipated 4 straight sweeps, but maybe us dropping only 2 or 3 games total. Which is unreasonable if you want the truth. A lot can happen to ruin that; injuries, bad play, even a suspension if someone gets REAL pissy about something and takes it out on someone's head. It's far more realistic to know we will lose games. Just as long as it's not 4 in a series. You just get back up on the horse and try again in the next game. What else can we do? We lost in triple OT, it's not like the 8-0 shellacking from a couple of weeks ago. We fought for that game, it just wasn't enough. I do think some fans are spoiled and demand instant gratification from the Wings all the time, but that's their problem and I wish they wouldn't make the rest of us have to deal with it. Na, it's unrealistic to think we will win both home games against a good playoff team. It'd be nice to win both, but I certainly didn't expect it. It only takes one bad call or one bad bounce for a bad goal to win or lose a game... As seen in yesterday's game. I like Detroit's chances in this series... After 100+minutes of gm#2, Wings have the advantage rolling 4 solid lines while Ducks producing line (played nearly 40 minutes) will wear down the stretch. Stay positive. We're a great road team while the Ducks have not been impressive at home. Advantage=Detroit Edited May 4, 2009 by MrSandMan
Guest ToMaToToWnWinGsFaN_24 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 i seriously thought the red wings had this game.. just goes to show you hiller can stand the pressure 60+ shots against him...incredible nothing to worry about.. the wings will come back in game
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 The Wings can roll out 4 lines and play them through OT. The Ducks can't do the same. It's a 7 game series. Do the math.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 Calm down? I am not upset in any way because Wings lost. I am pissed off because Datsyuk was ineffective for 95% of the game. He just doesn't play well with Hossa. I am also sad to see Wings forwards totally dominated by Getzlaf, Perry and Ryan. I am sick of blind homers attacking anyone who dares to criticize the team. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 Yeah, not too concerned about this one. Losing in OT burns, especially in triple OT on a harmless shot but an average player - but the Wings will rebound. All this talk about this defeat crushing the Wings is B.S. I remember what Lids said last year in the finals when the Wings lost game 5 in OT with a chance at the Cup on home ice - he said the all the guys in the locker room just put it behind them and moved on to the next game. I still think the Wings have what it takes this year - but for the sake of my heart, I hope they don't play anymore OT games - I can't stand them. Oh, and the BIG names up front need to start potting some goals. Franzen isn't going to do this on his own! That is all - GAME 3 VICTORY!

S_Whitney 1 Report post Posted May 4, 2009 i guess the reason why some people are panicking now is because a lot of fans were overly confident that we will easily roll over the ducks. This is really a tough series. To me this is like the cup final because I don't see any other team that are currently still in the playoffs can be a much bigger threat to us than the ducks. Seriously, other than our depth in forwards, the ducks are evenly matched with us on every other aspects. Our defense can shut down their top line and so can theirs D shut down ours. Just see what they did to San Jose. They are not giving any room to our top forwards that's why we don't see much scoring from them but that doesn't mean they are not playing well. Our forwards are clearly wearing down their D after the first two periods in both games. The only concern I have is that we weren't able to score during OT despite outshooting the ducks like 20 something shots. I didnt get to see the OTs so I wasnt sure if we are gettiing quality chances and couldn't put the puck into the net or we are just blindly shooting from everywhere not getting good shots? Guest mindfly Report post Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) It's 1 game. Just one. No expected the Wings to sweep their way through this series. It's their first loss after 5 consecutive playoff wins. I hate to say it, but the Wings were due for a loss. Remember, it took the Ducks 3OT to beat the Wings. On to Game #3. Serenity Now, Goosfraba, etc. What do you say if they lose game 3... and manage to lose game 4... whooop 3-1 and wings have to win 4 straight.. which is impossible... If they're down 3-1, they would only need to win 3 straight, which is why winning 4 straight is impossible. But since that hasn't happened, what's your point?
