If you are a player trying to get into a game, and people throw hats AFTER the remaining ones were picked up, you are going to get pissed. Throw the hats when they are originally thrown, then stop. Let the players play once the initial festivities are over.

Even if I didn't know the Pens played tonight, I can usually figure it out by the mandatory "whine about something Crosby said or did" thread on here.

In a role reversal between #s 8 and 87, you guys would be rationalizing it along the lines of "Ovie's a competitor who has passion for the game!" He was just pissed off, probably about the ridiculously weak goal Fleury let up leading to the hat shower. If he WASN'T pissed about an opponent getting a hat trick against his team, I'd question his heart.

Do you think people will give a f*** if someone calls out on the PA not to throw your hats anymore? They'll throw them until they're done throwing them. Man up and just wait it out.

Being pissed that your opponent got a hattie against you and complaining to the media about fans throwing their hats too vigorously and too often are too different things. One is being a hockey player the other is being a whiny *****.

Dude- honestly, there's no defense for whining to the media about fans throwing their hats on the ice. No one can control it, no one can change what happens and it achieves nothing aside from making you look immature. He had every right to think it, even say it, but he can't expect he'll come off looking cool after he says it out loud.

I have no problem with Crosby as a player- I just wish his talk with the media was as thoughtful and frequent as Datsyuk's.

I know you like him, and that's fine, but you don't make yourself or your argument look good by standing up for comments that other Penguins were likely cringing at.

It's actually funny you mention inter-team hate, between periods the CBC guys were discussing how there isn't enough animosity between the two right now. referencing stuff like Malkin and Ovechkin goofing off during the Superskills event and such. Not sure I buy it myself but interesting you bring it up given such in any case.

I would attribute the second wave of hats coming from the upper bowl fans whos hats could not reach the ice with one throw... it would take a second throw from someone from the lower bowl for the said hats to reach the ice.

Does he seriously think someone is going to feel bad for him? Its a go-ahead hat-trick in the playoffs for the home team! SHUT UP OR CALL YOUR MOMMY (and/or Bettman) AND CRY TO HER ABOUT IT.

After looking at the youtube videos of the hat trick the hats coming out of the stands were a bit excessive, Crosby had a right to *****...ok sarcasm over, that arena went nuts. I would expect nothing less from The Joe and it was an amazing goal. Go cry into your pillow Crosby, I hope that Ovie gets one in Pittsburgh.

The reason people have such a problem with Crosby is because he stands for everything that is wrong with the NHL. He is a young kid with no real acheivments next to his name and he gets all the publicity over other more qualified players. He may be talented but he doesn't have the charisma or character needed to be the face of an entire league. If you have to make a young gun the face of the NHL, use Ovie, he at least has charisma. In my eyes Ovie is the Lebron James of the NHL, hasn't really done anything yet, but is talented and charismatic enough to be widely popular and entertaining. Crosby is hated by every hockey fan I know, even my friends who are penguin fans only like him because he is talented. The NHL needs to invest in making more players household names, not just Crosby. Get some other names out there to breed popularity for the sport. Not everyone wants to get behind a kid with no cup and no beard.

I was watching the interview live. The reporter asked what he and the ref were talking about. If zcrosby answered "none of your business", it would have made him look like a ****** too. If I were him I probably wouldn't have talked to the ref about it, but he did and that's fine. He didn't "make a big comment to the media" about it, he answered one question and the interview continued. He didn't bring it up out of nowhere.

Well, when I stop and think about it the only conclusion I can come to is that even with the complaining, I will take Sid, his hat trick and his continued better than a point per game playoff production. He whines. Okay, but he also puts up points at a clip only a handful of NHLers can match. Which is more than I can say right now for anybody wearing a red and white sweater.
